TUSKEGEE, Ala. __ Tuskegee University middle blocker Sian Sprinkle was named the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday afternoon, announced by the league office.
Sprinkle registered 18 blocks over the past week for Tuskegee, averaging 1.2 blocks per set to supass the 50-block mark of the season. The freshman recorded ten kills, seven blocks (six solo), a dig, and 16.5 total points in the Golden Tigers' 3-1 road win over Oakwood, while also recording seven total blocks along with five kills against LeMoyne-Owen in a 3-1 win on a neutral site over the weekend in the SIAC West Cluster in Wilberforce, Ohio.
The Golden Tigers will face off against Spring Hill on Tuesday evening for SIAC play inside of the Daniel "Chappie" James Center, before another midweek contest out of conference as they travel to Talladega on Thursday, October 12. First serve is set for 6 p.m.
