Tuskegee middle blocker
Helena Pommeret continued her strong first season with the Golden Tigers by earning her second weekly SIAC award, as announced by the conference office. This week, she was named Newcomer of the Week after TU went 4-0 during the Miles College Cluster over the past weekend.
Pommeret, a sophomore from Montpellier, France, led the SIAC with 20 total blocks and ranked second in blocks per set at 1.54 across 13 sets. She also hit .411 with 28 kills and five errors on 56 attacks, which ranked second among conference players last week. Pommeret recorded at least six blocks in three of four matches, including a high of seven blocks, along with nine kills and a .444 hitting percentage, in a win over Central State.
She is the third Tuskegee player to win at least two SIAC Player of the Week awards, adding this honor with the Newcomer of the Week award she captured on Sept. 29. Pommeret is currently second in the conference in hitting percentage (.360) and seventh in blocks (66). Next up for Pommeret and the Golden Tigers is a matchup with Miles College on Oct. 22.
