WILBERFORCE, Ohio -- Najwa Williams had 18 kills and four blocks while Helena Pommeret added 17 kills, six blocks (two solo) and four service aces as Tuskegee finished its sweep at the Central State Cluster with wins over Kentucky State (25-20, 15-25, 25-23, 18-25, 15-13) and Central State (25-19, 25-19, 25-19) on Saturday at Beacom/Lewis Gym. Ta'Mya Hicks (34 assists, 11 digs) and Sahnee Dillahunt-Nedd (29 assists, 11 digs) split the setting duties while Chelsea Webb (28) and Sakinah Logan (22) led the team in digs on the day as Tuskegee (12-8, 6-2 SIAC) extended its win streak to six matches.

TU 3, Kentucky State 2
Kentucky State (2-13, 1-5) pushed Tuskegee to the limit in the opening match, getting to within two points of victory in the deciding set. But kills by Pommeret and Kayla Coleman tied the set at 13 before consecutive attack errors by Jaazaniah Calvert helped the Golden Tigers score the final four points of the match to get the win. The Thorobreds showed their fighting spirit early after TU opened an 11-point edge in the opening game. But KSU would score seven straight points before Jameah Chappell took a feed from Dillahunt-Nedd to close out the first game. KSU would hit .462 in a second-set blowout but Tuskegee responded in the third set, opening a big lead before KSU, again, fought back. But a kill by Chappell and a combo block by Williams and Pommeret gave the Golden Tigers a 2-1 advantage. Tuskegee had a chance to close out in the fourth set and was tied at 17 before the Thorobreds scored seven straight points. Carmyn Lawson (11 kills, 11 digs) ended the run with a kill but it was not enough to stave off a fifth set.

TU 3, Central State 0
The Golden Tigers hit .286 as a team as they dispatched the host Marauders (3-8, 3-4). Tuskegee only trailed once in the three sets and that was on the opening point of the second set. But that was about the only thing the team did wrong as it had no attack errors and hit .381 (12-0-31) as it would score 10 of the next 12 points to take control. During that stretch, Pommeret, Coleman, and Michaela Branner each had two kills. A service ace by Hicks pushed the advantage as high as 11 points later in the set and Williams closed it out with a kill to take a 2-0 lead. The final set saw the Golden Tigers open a sizable cushion but CSU would get to within three points. But Williams responded with two kills, which was enough to close out the match.
