Tuskegee Women’s Tennis Thriving on the Court and in the Classroom Under Gregory Green’s Leadership

TUSKEGEE, Ala. __ The Golden Tigers' dominance on the court this season has been fueled by key contributors up and down the lineup.

Senior leadership and a wave of talented underclassmen have blended seamlessly, creating a chemistry that has propelled the team to a 9-1 record in neutral site matches and an undefeated home slate at the PepsiCo Tennis Courts.

But what makes this team even more special is its performance in the classroom.

During the fall 2024 semester, the team posted a cumulative GPA of 3.24, with several student-athletes earning academic honors. Coach Green has made academic accountability a cornerstone of the program, and his players have embraced the challenge.

"We talk a lot about being champions in everything we do," Green said. "Winning matches is important, but we also want our players to leave Tuskegee with degrees and experiences that prepare them for the next phase of life."

That message is resonating. In addition to their on-court accolades, Tuskegee women's tennis has become one of the most academically consistent programs within the athletics department.

Study hall sessions, academic advising, and leadership development are woven into the team's weekly structure.

The program's success is also a reflection of the growing national respect for HBCU athletics in the sport of tennis. With the visibility gained from their NCAA postseason appearance last spring and their continued dominance in SIAC play, the Golden Tigers are showing that excellence is not confined to traditional power conferences.

"We are proud of our Women Tennis athletes for not only winning but also how they win under Coach Green's leadership. Our Women Tennis team remains solid A - B students showing great promise on and off the court. That is definitely #theTuskegeeWay!"

As the team gears up for the 2025 SIAC Tournament April 18 and April 19 at the Peachtree City Tennis Center in Peachtree City, Georgia and another potential NCAA run, Coach Green's message remains clear: "Stay focused, stay humble, and continue the work. Our goals go far beyond the scoreboard."

With a championship pedigree, strong academic foundation, and a coach dedicated to holistic development, the Tuskegee women's tennis program is setting a standard that others are striving to reach – one match, one semester, and one serve at a time.
