Preview: Women's Tennis Prepares for SIAC Tennis Championship Semifinals

TUSKEGEE, Ala. – The Tuskegee women's tennis team gets postseason underway on Saturday as they battle Spring Hill in the semifinal round of the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tennis Championship. The semifinal round starts on Saturday, with the finals set for Sunday morning all at the Peachtree City Tennis Center.

Tuskegee earned the No. 1 seed in the bracket after finishing the regular season 18-7 overall and 17-1 in league play that includes a 9-4 neutral site record.
 
Despite two losses in non-conference play to end the season, the Golden Tigers have won seven of their last ten matches. The team is a combined 80-40 in dual singles this spring, anchored by Taylor Ford with a 12-5 mark and Jamiya Ivory at 10-4.
 
Chloe Griffin-Harrington and Tanyaradzwa Kaome are right behind the duo in the win total, each with nine singles victories. Meanwhile, Dayna Jackson and Barbara Phillips both have eight individual wins.

In dual doubles, the squad is a combined 36-28. The duo of Ford and Jackson has been the most impressive on the season, going 14-5 as a unit, however the pairing of Devynn Jackson and Kaome won six matches and Gabrielle Geary and Phillips won five.

Spring Hill earned the No. 4 seed and to reach the semifinal round after concluding the season at 14-14 overall and 12-6 in league play. The Badgers come into the weekend having lost two straight, with non-conference losses to Mobile (5-2) and on the road against Alabama State (7-0).

They are a combined 75-70 in dual singles with a trio of double figure winners. Brooke Powers has led the way this season with a 20-4 mark, followed by Claire Bosman at 18-6 and Emma Pager at 10-16.
 
In dual doubles, FAU is a combined 40-34 with Powers and Bosman owning a team-best 17-8 record, including a 13-2 mark in SIAC action, while playing primarily from the No. 1 position.

Tuskegee and Spring Hill have met on the courts twice this season, with TU winning both meetings. The Golden Tigers took both matchups by a score of 6-1, taking the first meeting on the road (Feb. 17), while winning the second at home at the Pepsico Tennis Courts (Mar. 7).
