Women’s Tennis Remains Unbeaten on the Weekend, Finishes SIAC Round-Up 8-0

MOBILE, Ala. – Tuskegee women's tennis picked up six wins over the last two days at the SIAC Round-Up at the Gerald L. Wallace Tennis Center, finishing the weekend a perfect 8-0 in conference play.
 
The pairings of Taylor Ford/Dayna Jackson and Barbara Phillips/Gabrielle Geary both finished the weekend perfect in doubles play over the weekend, with Ford and Jackson at 6-0, while Geary and Phillips finished 4-0.
 
Ford also took home a team-high seven single victories over the three-day span, followed by five from Chloe Griffin-Harrington, four from Jamiya Ivory and Dayna Jackson, followed by three each from Devynn Jackson, Tanyaradzwa Kaome, and Phillips.

Tuskegee 4, Clark Atlanta 1
Tuskegee claimed three singles wins in route to a 4-1 neutral-site victory over Clark Atlanta to start the second day of play in the round-up on Friday.

Griffin-Harrington (6-2, 6-4) and Ivory (6-3, 6-3) took straight set wins at No. 5 and No. 6, while Taylor Ford took a three-set win (6-4, 2-6, 10-8) at No. 4.
 
The Golden Tigers took the doubles point by taking all three pairings, as Kaome/De. Jackson took court one 6-4, followed by a 6-2 win by Ford/Da. Jackson on court two, and a 7-6 win from Griffin-Harrington/Ivory at court three.
 
Tuskegee 5, Edward Waters 0
Both double pairings for Tuskegee made slight work of their opponents from Edward Waters in game two, taking 6-1 and 6-0 wins to earn the point.
 
The straight-set trend would continue in the individual wins during singles play, as Geary, Phillips, and Ford all swept their opponents to secure the second win of the day.

Tuskegee 6, Lane 0
The Golden Tigers also swept Lane to close out day two, taking the doubles point with straight set wins at court two and three by the pairings of Ivory/Griffin-Harrington and Phillips/Geary.
 
Singles play was much of the same, with three 6-0, 6-0 sweeps from Ford and both Jackson sisters, while Phillips and Geary both won their battles 6-1, 6-0.
 
Tuskegee 4, Savannah State 1
In solely singles play against Savannah State, Tuskegee pulled out a 4-1 win that included a pair of three-set matchups.
 
At court one, Da. Jackson took a 7-5 win, while the first of the two three-set battles went to Savannah State as Kaome fell after taking the opening set (6-7, 6-2, 10-6). On court three, Ford took a 6-2, 7-5 win, while court four went unfinished as it also went for three sets. Later, Griffin-Harrington (6-2, 6-3) and Ivory (7-6, 6-4) secured the win for Tuskegee on courts five and six.

Tuskegee 4, Benedict 0
Tuskegee took the doubles point despite a loss from Griffin-Harrington/Ivory by a score of 6-1. Ford/Da. Jackson took court one by a score of 6-3, while a win by default on court three gave TU the point.
 
Griffin-Harrington recovered for a straight-set singles win on No. 4 later in the match, winning 6-0, 6-3, followed by Taylor with a 6-0, 6-2 win to help earn the seventh straight win.
 
Tuskegee 4, Albany State 1
The Golden Tigers closed out the weekend with a 4-1 win over Albany State, as the Ford/Da. Jackson duo swept in doubles play again, followed by Griffin-Harrington/Ivory taking a 6-1 win.
 
Tuskegee took singles win at courts two, four, five, and six as Kaome (6-1,6-4), Da. Jackson (6-1, 6-0), De. Jackson (6-1, 6-3), and Griffin-Harrington (6-0, 6-2) all earned individual victories.

Tuskegee will return to Mobile next weekend for another conference match, this time a true road contest against Spring Hill on Saturday, Feb. 17. First serve is set for 1 p.m. CT at the Gerald L. Wallace Tennis Center.
