MONTEVALLO, Ala. | Navilla Paul won for the ninth time in 11 matches this season, but it wasn't enough for Tuskegee University as they fell to the University of Montevallo 7-1 in non-conference women's tennis action Tuesday afternoon.
Paul won for the third time in four tries at number three singles this season, defeating Montevallo's Julia Berg 6-4, 2-1 (retired). All of the matches in singles play finished in straight sets, with
Kimberly Bowen forcing a tiebreak in her match at number four singles.
Montevallo (12-7) won all three points in doubles, with the closest match coming at number one where the Tuskegee (13-5, 12-1 SIAC) team of
Reicia North and
Monica Thomas fell 8-6.
Tuskegee is off until Friday morning, when they open play in the SIAC Tennis Championships as the second seed against third-seeded Clark Atlanta. The match will start at 8 am (est) in Jonesboro (Ga.).
