TUSKEGEE, Ala. | The Tuskegee University opened the 2016 season on familiar territory, the PepsiCo Tennis Courts on the Tuskegee campus in front a great crowd. However they fell to the University of Montevallo in the season opener, dropping an 8-1 non-conference decision to the Lady Falcons.
Tuskegee (0-1) picked up their lone win at number four singles as
Navilla Paul grabbed a thrilling three-set win. She was able to come after dropping the second set to pick up the win.
The number one doubles team of
Reicia North – the reigning SIAC Player and Freshman of the Year – and partner
Monica Thomas dropped a heartbreaking 9-8 match to Montevallo's Allison Howell and Alice Copeland. The dup fell in the tiebreaker 7-4.
Tuskegee returns to action Sunday on the road against Clark Atlanta University at 12 noon (est), as part of a doubleheader with the men who will be facing Morehouse College at the same time.
