The Tuskegee softball team placed four student-athletes on the 2026 All-Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference teams, which was announced Monday prior to the beginning of the league's postseason tournament.
Sophomore pitcher
Monica Rose, senior outfielder
Tamiya Martin, and freshman second baseman
Kenya Tatum were all picked for the First Team while senior third baseman
Ava Mearideth was selected to the Second Team. Selections to the All-SIAC teams were made by vote of the SIAC softball coaches.
Rose, from Pleasant Grove, Ala., was named SIAC Pitcher of the Year after leading the conference in earned run average and opposing team's batting average while racking up 15 wins (fourth in the conference) and 125 strikeouts in 127 innings pitched. She was also named the Elite 16 Award winner, which is given to the student-athlete who has reached the pinnacle of competition at the SIAC championship level in their sport while also achieving the highest academic standard among their peers.Â
Tatum, from Montgomery, Ala., was named Freshman of the Year in a season that has her in a battle atop the SIAC in multiple hitting categories including batting average (second), on-base percentage (sixth), slugging percentage (fourth), hits (sixth), doubles (sixth), and runs batted in (fifth).
Martin, from Nettleton, Miss., currently leads the SIAC with 42 stolen bases, is sixth in runs scored and ninth in on-base percentage as the igniter of the Tuskegee lineup at the top of the order.
Mearideth, from Las Vegas, has been solid defensively and as steady as they come in the lineup, hitting over .320 during the season and nearly .360 during conference play, where her 15 RBI were third on the team.
Head coach Deitrich Randle was named SIAC Coach of the Year for the second consecutive year and third time overall. The leader of the Golden Tigers program saw his team win 32 regular season games and go 21-1 in winning the West Division title. Tuskegee has a No. 1 seed for the upcoming SIAC Softball Championship presented by Toyota, looking to win its first league championship since 2022.
