TUSKEGEE, Ala. –– The Tuskegee softball team capped off a dominant weekend on Sunday, defeating LeMoyne-Owen 12-2 in five innings to complete a three-game SIAC series sweep at the TU Softball Field.

With the victory, Tuskegee continued its strong play on both sides of the ball, using a balanced offensive attack and steady pitching to secure its third run-rule win of the series.

Tuskegee wasted no time setting the tone, manufacturing runs early in the first inning. Kenya Tatum delivered an RBI single to right field to bring home the game's first run, and Taneah Gibbons followed with a sacrifice fly to extend the lead. Ava Mearideth added another RBI single later in the inning as the Golden Tigers built a 3-0 advantage.

The momentum carried into the second inning, where Tuskegee capitalized on defensive miscues and timely hitting. Alarryn Beckley reached on an error that allowed a run to score, and Kaitlyn Fletcher delivered a two-run home run to center field to push the lead to 6-0.

LeMoyne-Owen responded in the third inning, taking advantage of an error to plate a run, but Tuskegee quickly answered in the bottom half with another big offensive surge. The Golden Tigers strung together multiple hits and forced additional defensive errors, highlighted by a two-RBI double from Tatum that extended the lead into double digits.

Tuskegee continued to apply pressure throughout the inning, with Gibbons and Mearideth each reaching base and contributing to a six-run frame that stretched the advantage to 12-1.

LeMoyne-Owen added a run in the fourth inning on an RBI groundout, but Tuskegee's early offensive outburst proved decisive as the game was called after five innings.

Tuskegee finished with 12 runs on 12 hits, led by Tatum, who recorded two hits and three RBIs, while Gibbons added two RBIs and continued her strong weekend at the plate. Fletcher's two-run home run highlighted another productive performance, and Meredith chipped in with a multi-hit effort and an RBI. Beckley also scored multiple runs from the top of the lineup, helping spark the offense throughout the game.

In the circle, Brianna Lachermeier delivered a solid outing, allowing just two runs (one earned) on two hits while striking out four over five innings to earn the win. She kept LeMoyne-Owen off balance and worked efficiently through the lineup to secure the run-rule victory.

LeMoyne-Owen was limited offensively, managing just two hits in the contest, with Kerrielle Brown recording one of the team's RBIs. Defensive miscues proved costly for the visitors, as multiple errors contributed to Tuskegee's scoring opportunities.

With the sweep, Tuskegee builds momentum heading into the week and will return to action in a midweek non-conference matchup on the road against Talladega College. First pitch is set for Wednesday, April 8 at Choccolocco Park.
