Golden Tigers Set for Albany State Crossover to Open SIAC Play

TUSKEGEE, Ala. – Tuskegee volleyball continues its strong start to the 2025 season this week when the Golden Tigers travel to Albany, Georgia, for the Albany State Crossover.

The two-day event will be played inside the HPER Complex, where Tuskegee will face four Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference foes in non-conference competition.

The Golden Tigers (5–1) open play Thursday, Sept. 25, with a morning matchup against host Albany State at 10 a.m., followed by an afternoon contest against Savannah State at 3 p.m.

On Friday, Sept. 26, Tuskegee will take on Clark Atlanta at 2 p.m. before closing the event against Allen in the nightcap at 7 p.m.

ABOUT TUSKEGEE (5-1, 0-0 SIAC)
Tuskegee enters the weekend riding momentum to one of its best starts in program history from back-to-back home wins over Rust and Claflin, including a thrilling five-set victory against the Panthers on Tuesday night.

The Golden Tigers have leaned on a balanced attack, with Najwa Williams averaging a team-best 58 kills, followed by Kayla Coleman at 43, and Jordyn Jones at 35. Mikea Allen has been the primary distributor, posting 100 assists (5.0 assists per set), while Sahnee Dillahunt-Nedd adds another 49 (4.19 assists per set) as part of a two-setter system.

Defensively, libero Chloe Edwards has anchored the back row with 103 digs (4.9 per set) and is coming off a career-high 32 digs on Tuesday. She is complemented by Allen at 59 digs, and freshman Jasmine Brantley who has 53, while Jones leads the team with 17 blocks.

ABOUT ALBANY STATE (2-8, 0-0 SIAC)
The Golden Rams enter the crossover at 2–8 but are coming off a confidence-boosting SIAC win over Allen. Albany State has leaned heavily on outside hitters Jarianis Perez with 97 kills and Josiya Teague with 48 kills, both nearly 2.7 kills per set and combining for nearly half of the team's offense.

Setter Liannette Burgos runs the offense at a pace of 124 assists (4.43 per set), while Mimi Harris adds depth with 73 assists (5.21 per set). On defense, Talia Smith has anchored the back row with 132 digs (4.71 per set).

Despite hitting just .098 as a team, Albany State's defensive presence has kept them competitive in several matches, highlighted by their five-set win over Middle Georgia State earlier this season.

ABOUT SAVANNAH STATE (4-2, 0-0 SIAC)
The Tigers have shown flashes of balance but are still seeking consistency in conference play. Offensively, Savannah Everett has been their go-to option with a team-high 65 kills, while Amiyah Walker contributes as a steady setter with defensive reliability with totals of 148 assists and 51 digs.

Savannah State's strength has often come from scrappy back-row defense and extended rallies, keeping matches close against stronger opponents. However, their hitting efficiency remains a hurdle to overcome.

ABOUT CLARK ATLANTA (0-7, SIAC)
Clark Atlanta has relied on Jasmine Moore (55 kills) to power their attack, along with a pair of setters who have combined for 127 total assists.

The Panthers bring solid serving pressure and athleticism at the net, though their youth and inconsistency have led to stretches where opponents take control.

ABOUT ALLEN (3-3, 0-1 SIAC)
Allen enters the crossover still looking to gain traction this season, but the Yellow Jackets feature some promising playmakers. Maliyah Spencer (49 kills) has paced the offense with strong swings on the outside, while Zyara Harrision and Tamia Horton have combined for 153 assists and 49 digs.
