Volleyball Posts Strong 3-1 Weekend at Final SIAC Cluster in Memphis

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Tuskegee volleyball team turned in one of its most complete weekends of the season, going 3-1 at the final SIAC Cluster of the year, hosted by LeMoyne-Owen.

The Golden Tigers swept Lane and LeMoyne-Owen and earned a thrilling 3-2 comeback win over Kentucky State, while falling 3-1 to Central State on Friday.

Tuskegee opened play Friday morning with a dominant 3-0 victory over Lane (25-23, 28-26, 25-15). The Golden Tigers controlled the pace from the first serve, hitting .268 as a team and tallying nine total blocks.

The offense was led by Najwa Williams, who finished with eight kills and three service aces, while Jordyn Jones added seven kills and four total blocks. Setters Mikea Allen and Sahnee Dillahunt-Nedd distributed the ball efficiently with a combined 27 assists, and Allen anchored the defense with a team-high ten digs, followed by libero Jasmine Brantley with eight.

In their second match of the day, Tuskegee fell to Central State in four sets (20-25, 25-23, 25-12, 25-19). The Golden Tigers battled throughout, led by another eight kills and 11 digs from Williams along with six kills from Demya Tate, and five from Breunna Crawford. The setter duo combined for 24 assists, while Brantley led the back line with a game-high 17 digs.

The Golden Tigers bounced back in dramatic fashion on Saturday, rallying past Kentucky State for a 3-2 win (21-25, 25-23, 25-12, 19-25, 15-7). After dropping the first set, Tuskegee stormed back behind a relentless offense led by Williams' 16 kills, 12 kills from Zariah Messick, and eight from Kayla Coleman.

The team's front line came alive in the final three sets, posting 16 team blocks, including key contributions from Sian Sprinkle and Jones. Allen led the offense with 37 assists along with ten digs, while Brantley tallied 19 digs to seal the comeback victory.

Tuskegee capped off the weekend in convincing fashion with a 3-0 sweep of LeMoyne-Owen (25-17, 25-19, 25-19). The Golden Tigers hit .106 and totaled nine team blocks, highlighted by Sprinkle (10 kills) and Crawford (seven kills), while Allen dished out 15 assists and Brantley recorded 13 digs.

The Golden Tigers now stand at 14-10 overall and 7-9 in SIAC play, continuing their late-season push toward a top conference finish.
