MOBILE, Ala. – Tuskegee volleyball closed its regular season on Thursday evening with a tough road contest against SIAC leader Spring Hill, falling 3-0 (25-19, 25-11, 25-12) inside the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center.
Despite stretches of strong play and several early-set leads, the Golden Tigers were unable to match the Badgers' efficiency at the net and depth across their rotation.
In the opening set, Tuskegee battled point-for-point early, tying the frame multiple times. A service ace from Jasmine Brantley helped TU build a 6-4 advantage, and the Golden Tigers took a 14-9 lead later in the set, forcing a Spring Hill timeout.
Spring Hill responded with a 5-0 run to tie the game sparked by a pair of kills from Claire Hayes. Tuskegee continued to generate offense, recording 11 kills in the set, but the Badgers closed the frame 25-19 behind late points from Jaylyne Bell and Monica Vargo.
Spring Hill took control early in the second set, using a pair of early errors and a service ace to jump ahead 6-3. Despite kills from Najwa Williams, Jameah Chappell, and Demya Tate, the Badgers' block and transition attack proved decisive. Spring Hill outhit Tuskegee .379 to -.026 in the set and used a 10-2 mid-set surge to pull away for a 25-11 win.
The Badgers continued their strong offensive rhythm in the final frame, opening on a 12-3 run highlighted by kills from Bell, Lillie Casey, and Vargo. Tuskegee got kills from Zariah Messick, Lauren Canady, Sian Sprinkle, and Tate, but Spring Hill maintained momentum throughout, hitting .370 in the set and sealing the match 25-12.
Tate led Tuskegee with six kills, while Canady and Chappell added five each. Brantley anchored the back row with 15 digs and 17 receptions, while the team finished with 26 kills, 38 digs, and 23 assists.
Spring Hill showcased why it remains undefeated in SIAC play (19–0), finishing with 42 kills, 41 assists, and 12 total blocks. Bell led all hitters with 14 kills on .375 hitting, while Vargo added 10 kills and a match-high 12 digs.
Tuskegee concludes the regular season at 14-13 overall and 7-12 in SIAC play.
