TROY, Ala. – Tuskegee track and field capped off a successful showing at the Doc Anderson Invitational over the weekend with multiple top performances and national qualifying times at the Jesse H. Colley Track Complex, hosted by Troy University.
 
On the women's side, senior standout 
An'Janae Latchinson continued her dominant outdoor campaign with two second-place finishes in hurdle events. She posted a time of 13.97 seconds in the 100-meter hurdles and 59.99 seconds in the 400-meter hurdles, both NCAA Division II national qualifying marks.
 
Latchinson now ranks sixth nationally in Division II in the 100 hurdles and fifth in the 400 hurdles, while placing 15th and second respectively among all HBCUs.
 
She also placed third in the 200 meters with a time of 24.59, just off her personal best and a continuation of her rise on the national charts. Latchinson currently leads the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) in the 100 hurdles, 400 hurdles, and 200 meters.
 
In distance events, junior 
Anaya Martin led the way with a first-place finish in the women's 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 12:34.69. She added a 12th-place showing in the 1500 meters at 5:16.23.
 
Teammates 
Akierah Walker and 
Genesis Harrell followed close behind in the steeplechase, finishing third (13:21.16) and fourth (13:43.00), respectively, with Walker also finishing 15th in the 1500 meters.
 
Jurni Janac and 
Shalyah Tresvant also placed in both events.
 
Janac finished seventh in the steeplechase (15:38.37) and 20th in the 1500 meters (5:48.87), while Tresvant finished sixth in the steeplechase (15:19.49), 13th in the 800 meters (3:01.06), and 21st in the 1500 meters (6:10.09).
 
In sprints and hurdles, 
Asia Nettles added depth with a fifth-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles (1:08.71), 10th in the 100-meter hurdles, and 15th in the 100 meters (12.92).
 
De'Shell Carr clocked 12.70 in the 100 meters for 13th place, while 
Jahkaya McBurney finished sixth in the 400-meter hurdles (1:08.89) and 16th in the 100 meters at 12.94.
 
In field events, 
Matealia Harper led Tuskegee with two eighth-place finishes, throwing 10.95 meters in the shot put and 31.00 meters in the discus.
 
Aliyah Purnell placed 11th in the shot put (9.72m) and set a new personal best in the discus with a throw of 24.30 meters.
 
Serenity Mitchell rounded out the discus group with a throw of 21.73 meters, good for 14th.
 
On the men's side, the Golden Tigers posted strong relay and individual performances throughout the final day.
 
The 4x100 meter relay team of 
Lamont Brinson, 
Shawn Jarrett II, 
Javonte Andrews, and 
Justice Northern finished fourth overall in 42.74.
 
In the 4x400 meter relay, the team of 
Christian Sanders, 
KeyWun Rowles, 
Jackson Murry, and 
Deinkepribo Harry placed fifth (3:38.30), while the squad of 
Jamarqus Jones, Brinson, Andrews, and 
Skyler Carrillo came in seventh at 3:32.20.
 
In the 400-meter hurdles, sophomore Jarrett II delivered one of the best performances of the weekend with a time of 52.81 seconds to take second place overall.
 
That mark ranks him second in the SIAC, 12th among all HBCUs, and 18th in NCAA Division II, securing a national qualifying mark.
 
Northern also impressed with a personal best in the 400 meters, clocking in at 48.90 seconds to place sixth.
 
Teammate Jones finished 18th (51.06), Brinson 19th (51.80), Andrews 21st (52.10), and 
Xavier Campbell 23rd (52.46). In the 100 meters, Brinson placed 17th (10.97), followed by Campbell in 22nd (11.12) and 
Justin Guynn in 26th (11.60).
 
In distance races, 
Carl Richards earned a third-place finish in the 3000-meter steeplechase and placed 14th in the 1500 meters (4:24.18), while 
Dennis Kibet ran a personal-best 4:25.23 in the 1500 meters to finish 16th.
 
Jayden Davidson followed with a fourth-place showing in the 3000-meter steeplechase at 11:17.37.
 
In the field, 
Drake Hudson had another solid performance, placing ninth in the discus with a mark of 35.20 meters and 11th in the shot put at 10.71 meters.
 
Tuskegee will now shift its focus to continued outdoor preparation as the championship portion of the season approaches.
 
With multiple athletes earning national recognition and qualifying marks, the Golden Tigers are positioned to make noise both in the SIAC and on the NCAA Division II stage.

Tuskegee will resume its outdoor season next weekend at the Georgia Tech Invitational in Atlanta, Georgia. The two-day competition is scheduled for Friday, April 18 and Saturday, April 19 at the George C. Griffin Track.
