MOBILE, Ala. – The Tuskegee women's tennis team dominated day two of the second SIAC Round-Up, delivering consecutive 7-0 sweeps over Spring Hill and Savannah State at the Copeland-Cox Tennis Center on Thursday.
With the victories, the Golden Tigers improved to 12-5 overall and 11-1 in conference play, further solidifying their spot at the top of the SIAC standings.
Tuskegee 7, Spring Hill 0
In their first match of the day, Tuskegee took on Spring Hill and quickly set the tone in doubles play.
The pair of Tanyardzwa Kaome and
Leiloni Payton clinched a 6-1 win at No. 1 doubles, while
Dayna Jackson and
Gabrielle Blanks also cruised to a 6-1 victory at No. 2.
The Golden Tigers completed the doubles sweep with a 6-2 win at No. 3 by Taylor ford and
Gabrielle Geary.
In singles play, Tuskegee showcased their depth and precision, winning all six matches in straight sets.
Kaome led the charge at the top court with a 7-5, 6-3 victory at No. 1 singles, while Blanks remained dominant with a 6-1, 6-4 win at No. 2.
Payton added a 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 3, followed by wins from Jackson (6-0, 6-2 at No. 4), Ford (6-2, 6-2 at No. 5), and
Chloe Griffin-Harrington (6-1, 6-3 at No. 6) to complete the shutout.
Tuskegee 7, Savannah State 0
Tuskegee carried its momentum into the afternoon match against Savannah State and produced another comprehensive team performance.
Kaome and Payton again led the doubles effort with a 6-4 win, while Jackson and Blanks followed suit with a 6-2 decision. Ford and Geary earned another victory at No. 3 doubles, 6-0.
The Golden Tigers were just as dominant in singles against Savannah State. Kaome blanked her opponent on her way to a 6-0, 6-0 win on the top court.
Ford and Griffin-Harrington also swept their pairings on courts four and six respectively, while Geary took a 6-1, 6-2 victory at court five. Jackson and Payton both took wins by retirement to finish the sweep.
With two more commanding wins, Tuskegee continues to display its strength and depth across the lineup, combining consistent doubles play and confident singles performances.
