PEACHTREE CITY, Ga. — The No. 1 seed Tuskegee women's tennis team continued its dominant run through the conference slate with a 5-2 semifinal victory over No. 4 seed Spring Hill on Friday afternoon at the Peachtree City Tennis Center.
With the win, the Golden Tigers advance to the 2025 Cricket SIAC Women's Tennis Championship Final on Saturday and improve to 15-6 overall.
Spring Hill concludes its season at 8-17.
Despite dropping the doubles point to open the match, Tuskegee quickly regrouped and delivered five straight wins in singles to take control and punch its ticket to the championship match.
Spring Hill secured the early advantage with doubles victories at courts two and three.
Emma Koch and Brooke Powers took down Danya Jackson and
Gabrielle Blanks 6-3 on court two, while Emma Pager and Paola Marin Sabao defeated
Taylor Ford and
Gabrielle Geary by the same score on court three.
The top doubles pairing of
Tanyaradzwa Kaome and
Leiloni Payton was still in progress, leading 4-3 over Claire Bosman and Romina Kroemer, but went unfinished as Spring Hill clinched the point.
Tuskegee wasted no time turning the match around in singles play.
On court three, Payton continued her dominant season with a commanding 6-3, 6-1 win over Powers to tie the match at 1-1.
Shortly after, Blanks gave Tuskegee the lead with a clutch 7-5, 6-3 win over Koch on court two, overcoming early resistance to wear down her opponent with consistent baseline play.
From there, the Golden Tigers kept the pressure on. Ford extended the lead to 3-1 with a strong 6-3, 6-2 win over Pager on court five, showcasing aggressive returns and tactical play at the net.
Junior
Chloe Griffin-Harrington clinched the match on court six, battling past Marin Sabao in a tight second set to win 6-4, 6-4 and secure Tuskegee's place in the title match.
Danya Jackson added the final point with a 6-5, 6-1 victory over Kroemer on court four, sealing Tuskegee's fifth win of the day.
The only singles loss came on court one, where Claire Bosman of Spring Hill outlasted Kaome in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4, in a hard-fought top-line battle.
Friday's win marks Tuskegee's 13th victory in its last 15 matches and highlights the team's depth, experience, and determination.
With strong singles play leading the charge, the Golden Tigers will look to capture the title in Saturday's final and repeat as SIAC Champions.
