BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Tuskegee track and field teams closed out their second outdoor meet of the season with a series of standout performances on the final day of the UAB Spring Invitational, hosted at the UAB Track & Field Facility.
 
The Golden Tigers demonstrated growth and depth across both track and field events, achieving multiple top ten finishes, personal records, and season-best marks throughout the day.
 
On the women's side, sprinter An'Janae Latchinson delivered a dominant performance by winning the 200 meters with a time of 24.15 and finishing fifth in the 100 meters with a mark of 12.21.
 
She also anchored the women's 4x100 meter relay team, which included Amira Broussard, De'Shell Carr, and Jahkaya McBurney.
 
The group finished sixth overall with a time of 48.75, showcasing their chemistry and speed against a competitive field.
 
Amira Broussard continued her busy day with a 14th-place finish in the 100-meter hurdles at 15.59, 19th in the 200 meters (25.61), and 21st in the long jump with a leap of 4.83 meters.
 
De'Shell Carr added a ninth-place finish in the long jump with a jump of 5.27 meters and placed 23rd in the 100-meter hurdles.
 
McBurney also turned in a stellar day, setting a new personal best in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.87 to finish ninth, while also placing 17th in the 400-meter hurdles (1:13.75) and 26th in the long jump.
 
In distance events, Anaya Martin continued her strong season with a 17th-place finish in the 5000 meters (20:19.51) and 23rd in the 1500 meters (5:17.07).
 
Genesis Harrell recorded a personal record in the 5000 meters with a time of 21:28.67, finishing 20th.
 
Shalyah Tresvant followed in 22nd at 22:54.80. Akierah Walker set a new personal best in the 800 meters, finishing 12th with a time of 2:23.53.
 
In hurdles, Asia Nettles placed 13th in the 400-meter hurdles, clocking in at 1:09.80.
 
In the field events, Danielle Wilson led the shot put crew with a 12th-place finish (11.05 meters), followed by Matealia Harper (10.63 meters, 17th), Serenity Mitchell (9.99 meters, 21st), and Aliyah Purnell (9.09 meters, 26th). Purnell also placed 20th in the discus with a mark of 22.03 meters.
 
On the men's side, the Golden Tigers' relay units excelled with the 4x100 meter team of LaQuenton Underwood, Justice Northern, Shawn Jarrett II, and Ethan Zagore Jr. placing second with a time of 41.77.
 
The second relay team of Lamont Brinson, Jamarqus Jones, Xavier Campbell, and Deinkepribo Harry finished sixth at 43.42.
 
In the 4x400 meter relay, the squad of Jarrett II, Northern, Jackson Murry, and Zagore Jr. earned a third-place finish with a strong time of 3:17.33, while the team of Jones, Javonte Andrews, Carl Richards, and Jayden Davidson placed sixth (3:23.48).
 
Individually, Justice Northern stood out by finishing eighth in the 400 meters (49.68) and seventh in the 200 meters (21.76). He was followed in the 400 meters by Jones (51.34), Zagore Jr. (51.37), Campbell (51.67), and Andrews (51.77), all of whom posted solid efforts.
 
Shawn Jarrett II added a silver-medal performance in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 55.09, while Davidson and Richards both recorded top 12 finishes in the 800 meters, coming in at 1:57.70 and 1:59.39, respectively.
 
Dennis Kibet rounded out the event in 17th with a time of 2:10.71.
 
In the jumps, Tuskegee earned top finishes in the high jump, led by Christian Sanders and KeyWun Rowles, who both tied for third with personal records of 1.80 meters.
 
Deinkepribo Harry followed in sixth at 1.70 meters. Rowles also placed ninth in the triple jump (12.58 meters) and 15th in the long jump (5.63 meters).
 
Zagore Jr. earned seventh in the long jump (6.20 meters), while Brinson finished 10th (6.02 meters).
 
Jackson Murry and Christian Goode both placed in the pole vault, with Murry taking third (4.30 meters) and Goode finishing ninth (3.70 meters).
 
Murry also placed 14th in the 110-meter hurdles (17.38) and 25th in the discus (21.77 meters).
 
Harry finished just ahead of Murry in the discus (24th, 26.34 meters) and was 15th in the 110-meter hurdles (18.88).
 
In the throws, Drake Hudson continued to be a consistent force, earning eighth in the discus with a toss of 43.59 meters and 11th in the shot put at 11.45 meters.
 
The Golden Tigers concluded the UAB Spring Invitational with an impressive array of individual achievements and team cohesion, building momentum as they move deeper into the 2025 outdoor season.
 
With continued growth and key performances across all event areas, Tuskegee remains a formidable presence in the SIAC and beyond.
