TUSKEGEE, Ala. – The Tuskegee men's and women's tennis teams are set to return to action on Tuesday, March 18, as they host Georgia College & State University (GCSU) at the Pepsico Tennis Courts.
The men's match is scheduled for 10 a.m., followed by the women's contest at 12 p.m.
The Golden Tigers' men's team enters the matchup at 5-4 overall and 4-1 in Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) play, coming off an impressive performance against Rust.
Meanwhile, the Tuskegee women's team has been dominant in conference play, standing at 6-3 overall and a perfect 6-0 in the SIAC. They look to extend their winning streak and maintain their momentum in what will be their toughest test of the season thus far.
The men have found success in SIAC play, led by key contributors in both singles and doubles competition. The Golden Tigers will need to be at their best against a GCSU squad that has excelled in singles play, posting a combined 45-13 record in dual matches.
For Tuskegee, Kevin Eutsey has been a standout performer, playing well in singles action with six wins, along with Zamani Moyo, also with six solo wins.
Torain Alleyne, Noah Johnson, and Ty'lon Miller have also been key contributors, combining for 13 solo wins combined.
Meanwhile, the duo of Symon Brown and Moyo have provided consistency in doubles competition, going 5-2 so far on the year, while Eliyahu Pinkney and Tyler Ladge are 4-2 on the season.
Tuskegee will look to counter GCSU's depth, particularly with the Bobcats' top performers like Luka Sauer Jimenez (8-2 in singles), Chase Martin (8-1), and Rodrigo Pérez Crespo (8-2).
In doubles, the Bobcats have been exceptional, with the pairing of Thomas Brewer and Gabe Cizek going 8-0 on the year.
Tuskegee's keys to success will be finding early momentum in doubles play and capitalizing on aggressive net play against an experienced Bobcat squad.
The Tuskegee women's team will have a major challenge against a Georgia College squad that has been dominant in PBC play.
The Golden Tigers have been stellar in SIAC action, led by top singles players like Gabrielle Blanks and Dayna Jackson, both of whom have been key in securing victories for Tuskegee.
Blanks is 6-0 so far, all in the SIAC, while Jackson is 6-2, followed by Chloe Griffin-Harrington and Tanyaradzwa Kaome at 5-3 and 6-3, respectively.
In doubles, Blanks and Gabrielle Geary have a perfect 6-0 doubles mark, while the duo of Jackson and Taylor Ford are 5-3, followed by Leiloni Payton and Kaome at 4-3 overall.
Georgia College & State University's men's team brings a strong national presence to Tuskegee, as their men's team holds an impressive 9-1 record and a 1-0 mark in the Peach Belt Conference (PBC).
The Bobcats are ranked No. 43 in the latest ITA Division II national rankings and have been dominant on the court, having won four consecutive matches.
Their lone loss came against Montevallo, a tough 4-3 battle, but they have responded by securing quality wins, including a 5-2 victory over nationally ranked Augusta.
On the women's side, GCSU has also been a force in the PBC, boasting a 9-2 overall record and an undefeated 5-0 conference mark.
Rachel Black (9-2) and Chiara Santoro (7-4) have been consistent leaders, while their doubles team of Santoro and Black remains undefeated at 10-0.
The Bobcats have outperformed opponents in doubles play with a 24-5 record, making the early doubles point a crucial battle.
