TUSKEGEE, Ala. – The Golden Tiger men's tennis team is set to continue its early-season schedule with a non-conference road match against Auburn Montgomery on Friday, February 21, at 11 a.m. at the AUM Tennis Complex.
Tuskegee enters the match 0-2 overall, while AUM holds a 1-2 record, coming off a win against West Alabama.
ABOUT TUSKEGEE (0-2)
The Golden Tigers have faced a challenging start to the season, dropping their season opener to Mobile (4-3) before falling to No. 12 West Alabama.
Tuskegee has struggled in doubles play, going 0-6 as a team across their two matches. However, in singles play,
Zamani Moyo and
Kevin Eutsey have secured wins, with Moyo posting a 1-0 record at No. 1 singles and Eutsey winning at No. 2 singles against Mobile.
The team has been competitive despite the early-season losses, as several matches have gone to deciding sets.
Tyler Ladge (1-1) and Eutsey (1-1) have shown potential in singles competition, while
Symon Brown and
Miles Wilson look to bounce back from tough early-season matchups.
Scouting Auburn Montgomery
AUM enters the match 1-2 overall, following a season-opening loss to Columbus State (6-1), a narrow defeat against North Georgia (4-3), and a 4-3 win over West Alabama.
Raphael Pertusier has been the Warkhawks' most consistent player, posting a 3-0 record in singles play, including victories at No. 3 and No. 4 singles. Giuseppe Bonaiuti (2-1 at No. 1 singles) has has also been a key contributor, earning a crucial win against West Alabama.
In doubles, AUM has struggled, compiling a 2-7 record, with the duo of Bonaiuti and Jami Savolainen (1-2) being their most reliable pair. The Warhawks will look to improve their doubles play against a Tuskegee team that is also seeking its first doubles victory of the season.
Both teams are looking to establish consistency early in the season. AUM has the advantage of home court and a deep singles lineup, while Tuskegee is looking for its first victory and aiming to capitalize on competitive matches in their early non-conference matchups.
