TUSKEGEE, Ala. __ Tuskegee University's indoor track and field teams are set to compete in the 2025 Cricket Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Indoor Track and Field Championships, which will take place on February 20-21 at the Norton Healthcare Sports & Learning Center in Louisville, Kentucky.
With strong performances throughout the season, the Golden Tigers are looking to make a statement in the conference championship and build on their progress.
The men's team has been led by standout performances in the sprints, distance, and relay events. Freshman
LaQuenton Underwood has been a key contributor in the 60-meter dash, posting a season-best time of 6.86 seconds at the KMS Invitational in January.
Justice Northern has also been a force on the track, recording a top time of 22.56 seconds in the 200 meters at the University of South Alabama Jaguar Invitational and adding a 400-meter mark of 50.55 seconds at the UAB Vulcan Invitational.
In the middle-distance events,
Jayden Davidson has been a key performer, running 2:01.27 in the 800 meters and 4:36.38 in the mile at the UAB Green and Gold Invite. In the longer distances,
Edgar Kosgei has led the way with a 3000-meter time of 9:46.13.
The 60-meter hurdles have been another strong event for Tuskegee, with
Shawn Katsidzira posting a time of 8.71 seconds.
The 4x400-meter relay team of
Shawn Jarrett II, Northern,
Javonte Andrews, and
Jarmarqus Jones has also been a strong point, recording a season-best time of 3:23.56.
On the women's side, the Golden Tigers have been led by
Anitria Sangster, who has excelled in both the 60 and 200 meters.
She recorded a season-best 60-meter time of 7.84 seconds at the University of South Alabama Jaguar Invitational and followed that up with a 200-meter mark of 25.10 seconds at the UAB Green and Gold Invite.
In the 400 meters, junior
An'Janae Latchinson has been a standout, running 58.01 seconds at the UAB Vulcan Invitational.
Junior
Akierah Walker has led the team in the 800 meters with a time of 2:26.86, while fellow freshman
Anaya Martin has posted the top times in both the mile, running 5:38.10, and the 3000 meters, finishing in 11:29.63.
Latchinson has also been a force in the 60-meter hurdles, clocking 8.74 seconds. The 4x400-meter relay team of Sangster, Latchinson,
Amira Broussard, and
Jahkaya McBurney has been another key piece for Tuskegee, posting a top time of 4:06.55.
