ABOUT TUSKEGEE (2-3, 1-2 SIAC)
Tuskegee (2-3, 1-2 SIAC) is led offensively by quarterback
Raequan Beal, who has surpassed 2,500 career passing yards and firmly established himself as the team's leader under center. Beal's poise has been on display multiple times this season, and he continues to rank among the SIAC's most efficient passers, with 1,058 passing yards and eight touchdowns so far.
The Golden Tiger offense is rounded out by a backfield led by
Johnny Morris and
Ja'Khael Rowser, who has combined for just over 300 rushing yards on the year. Morris has been the feature back with his explosiveness, while Rowser provides a physical complement in short-yardage situations.
Tuskegee's receiving corps has been balanced, with
EJ Hall and
Jermaine Hardy Jr. both emerging as reliable targets, while several others have contributed. Hall has also been a game-changer on special teams, ranking fifth in Division II with a kick return touchdown and giving Tuskegee a spark in the return game. The Golden Tigers also rank first in the SIAC and 31st nationally in net punting, averaging 37.42 yards per punt.
Defensively, Tuskegee will look to rebound after a tough stretch. Linebackers
Kaquan Kimber and
Devon Irving Jr. along with defensive lineman
Masiah Wells have anchored the front seven, while the secondary has been opportunistic with multiple interceptions across the first five games. The unit will be focused on limiting big plays against a Morehouse offense that has shown it can throw the ball effectively.
ABOUT MOREHOUSE (0-4, 0-2 SIAC)
Morehouse (0-4, 0-2 SIAC) comes into Saturday's matchup still searching for its first win of the season after a narrow 27-24 loss last week at Edward Waters.
Quarterback Miles Scott has thrown for 943 yards and five touchdowns, highlighted by a 334-yard performance against Kentucky State. Wide receiver Kamrin Brunson has been his top target, hauling in 272 yards and three touchdowns, while Noah Rhodes and Eric Stephens has added 197 and 142 receiving yards respectively.
Running back Nicholas Woodford leads the Maroon Tigers' rushing attack with 218 yards and two touchdowns, including a 95-yard effort at Edward Waters. On defense, linebacker Sean Johnson has recorded 40 tackles and 4.5 tackles for loss, while the unit has notched seven sacks this season.
The rivalry between Tuskegee and Morehouse, known as the Morehouse–Tuskegee Classic, has been one of the defining matchups in HBCU football for more than 80 years. Tuskegee holds the all-time series edge and has won three straight meetings, including a 42-0 victory last season.
With the Golden Tigers aiming to get back to .500 and the Maroon Tigers desperate for their first win, Saturday's contest promises the intensity and atmosphere that have long defined the Classic.
