TUSKEGEE, Ala. — The Tuskegee football team will look to bounce back this weekend as they travel to Albany, Georgia, to take on Albany State inside the ASU Coliseum on Saturday, October 18.
Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. ET and will be broadcast live on HBCU GO. The matchup also serves as Homecoming for the Golden Rams.
ABOUT TUSKEGEE (2-4, 1-3 SIAC)
Tuskegee aims to return to early-season form after opening the year with a home conference victory and a non-conference win over Winston-Salem State in the Red Tails Classic.
Through six games, Tuskegee is averaging 188.3 yards of total offense per game, including 214.0 passing yards and 74.3 rushing yards.
Freshman quarterback
Bryson McGrew had 230 yards and a touchdown in his first career start against the Maroon Tigers, while the ground game features a committee led by
Johnny Morris (231 yards, 3.9 yards per carry) and
Ja'Khael Rowser (156 yards, 3.6 yards per carry), who combined for over 380 yards on the season.
The receiving corps has been highlighted by
EJ Hall, who leads the team with 500 receiving yards and six touchdowns, while four other pass catchers have scored, including
Preston Parker, Rowser,
Malik Thomas, and
Rashad Wilson Jr.
The offense has converted on 32.8 percent of third-down attempts and has scored on 81.3 percent of its red-zone trips, including a perfect 13-of-13 on PATs by kicker
Lorcan Ryans, who is also 9-for-13 on field goals with a season-long of 42 yards. He currently ranks seventh nationally in Division II in field goals per game (1.50).
ABOUT ALBANY STATE (5-1, 4-0 SIAC)
Albany State enters its Homecoming weekend atop the SIAC East standings following a 32-7 victory over Clark Atlanta.
The Golden Rams have been dominant on both sides of the ball, averaging 43.5 points per game while holding opponents to just 14.7. Offensively, quarterback Isaiah Knowles has thrown for 825 yards and nine touchdowns, while running back Tiant Wyche leads the rushing attack with 487 yards and five scores.
Albany State's defense has been one of the most disruptive units in the league, recording 22 sacks and forcing 16 turnovers through six games. Andrew Ruffin leads the team with 24 total tackles, including 3.5 for loss and a sack, while 15 other defenders have reached multiple digit tackle totals.
The Golden Rams are outgaining opponents by more than 135 yards per game, averaging 438.3 yards of total offense compared to 302.5 allowed. Their ground game ranks among the conference's best at 234.2 yards per contest, while the defense allows just 89.3 rushing yards per game.
For Tuskegee, this weekend's matchup offers an opportunity to regroup and reclaim momentum heading into the latter part of the season. The Golden Tigers will aim to establish early offensive rhythm and limit Albany State's explosive playmakers in all three phases.
