TUSKEGEE __ Tuskegee University's softball schedule this week has been altered, with Monday's home game canceled, and the team picking up a non-conference doubleheader on the road against Georgia Southwestern on Tuesday evening.
The game between Tuskegee and Talladega, originally slated for Monday, at 1 p.m. at home, has been canceled. Meanwhile, the Golden Tigers will head to Americus, Georgia, on Wednesday to take on Georgia Southwestern on Wednesday. The doubleheader is slated to start at 4 p.m. ET.
Tuskegee enters the matchup 8-11 overall on the season. TU has four batters who currently hold batting averages of over .275, while seven have collected at least ten hits.
Jessica Morales leads the team so far in batting average (.310), hits (18), and runs scored (16), while also driving in four runs and starting all 19 games.
Jada Chadwick has also been productive at the plate this year, batting .296 to go along with 16 hits, including five doubles and two home runs, 20 RBI, and eight runs scored. Meanwhile,
Kaeley Roldan (.279 / 12 H / 6 RBI) and
T'yauna Rector (.278 / 15 H / 12 R) round out the top four averages.
Pitching has been key this season for Tuskegee, as they hold a team ERA of 3.68, with three different arms. Senior
Kamya Hampton leads the pitching unit with a 7-3 record and a 1.56 WHIP while posting a 3.23 ERA and five complete games. Junior
Caroline Clark has a 4.44 ERA and four complete games, while freshman
Katie Harris has a 3.00 ERA in seven innings pitched.
