MOBILE, Ala. __ Tuskegee women's tennis clinched the regular season Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) title, after completing the second SIAC Round-Up with a 7-1 mark over the weekend at the Copeland-Cox Tennis Center.
In a weekend scattered with rain showers, Tuskegee (18-5) earned wins over Lane (6-0), Benedict (4-1), Savannah State (6-1), Edward Waters (6-1), Clark Atlanta (4-3), Fort Valley State (5-2), and LeMoyne-Owen (7-0), while falling to Albany State (4-3).
Sophomore
Jamiya Ivory was one of the leaders on the weekend, seeing success in both singles and doubles over the weekend, teaming with
Chloe Griffin-Harrington at No. 3 doubles against Fort Valley State and defeated their pairing 6-0. She also took home seven wins in singles play, including five wins at the No. 5 spot, and two wins by default.
Gabrielle Geary went 3-1 in individual play, all at the No. 2 singles, while going 3-1 in doubles, pairing with
Barbara Phillips for wins against Clark Atlanta and Edward Waters, before picking up the other paired with
Maud Tsaura against LeMoyne-Owen.
Taylor Ford finished the week 6-0 in doubles play, with one match unfinished against Albany State. The sophomore went 2-1 in singles, winning against Clark Atlanta and Savanah State. Meanwhile, Jera Hargrave went undefeated on the weekend, going 3-0 on court six and 4-0 overall in singles play, along with a 6-2 win on court three with
Brianna Phillips against LeMoyne-Owen.
Sisters
Dayna Jackson and
Devynn Jackson combined for three singles wins and eight double victories. Dayna brought back two singles wins, defeating her opponents from Savannah State and Fort Valley State on Sunday. She also paired with Ford for the perfect 6-0 mark in doubles. Devynn took home a singles win against Albany State before pairing with
Tanyaradzwa Kaome for doubles wins at No. 1 against Lane and Savannah State.
Kaome took home four total wins in doubles play, all on court one, with one win each with Griffin-Harrington against Edward Waters and
Barbara Phillips against LeMoyne-Owen, while
Barbara Phillips took home all four singles matches on the week, giving up just two scores in singles, while going 5-2 in doubles play.

The Golden Tigers will return home after a week off with a non-conference contest against West Georgia to start next month on Thursday, April 4. First serve is set to 2 p.m. at the Pepsico Tennis Courts.
