HOOVER, Ala. __ Tuskegee softball ended the week's play on Thursday with three wins on the final day of the SIAC Crossover, defeating Edward Waters, Savannah State, and Allen to close out the week 6-1 at the Hoover Met Complex.

The Golden Tigers found themselves in a pitching duel in the first game of the day on Thursday, as
Kamya Hampton and Jodesea Peterson went head-to-head in a 10-inning contest.

Hampton went ten innings, allowing seven hits and one run, while striking out six and walking three. Peterson went 9.1 innings, allowing two runs on nine hits in the loss.

Edward Waters got on the board in the top of the first, scoring on a throwing error and taking an early 1-0 lead. TU responded in the bottom half of the frame, as
T'yauna Rector earned a bunt single to third base before scoring on a single to right center from
Alexis Thompson to tie the game at 1-1.

The game was won in the tenth, as Rector led off the inning reaching base on an error and advanced to third on a fly ball to center from
Victoria Harrison. Rector crossed the plate for the game-winning run on the next at-bat on a bunt single from pinch hitter
Caroline Clark.
Tuskegee 5, Savannah State 3
TU took the second game on Thursday behind a complete game from Clark, earning her third win of the season. The junior allowed five hits and three runs, while striking out three and walking two facing 28 batters in six and two-thirds innings.

The Golden Tigers earned just two hits in the contest, scoring three unearned runs in the game.
Jada Chadwick and
Laila Wood earned the only two hits.

Both sides scored in the opening inning, as
Payton Dunham scored on a sacrifice fly from
Jessica Morales, followed by a solo home run by Savannah State in the bottom of the first to tie the game 1-1.

Tuskegee broke the game over the next few innings, with Ross earning an RBI on a groundout, followed by a pair of unearned runs from Morales and
DaJhay Norton in the fourth to take a 4-1 edge.

SSU responded in the fourth with an RBI single to get the game to 4-2, however the team could not rally, as TU held them off with another score in the 5-3 win.
Tuskegee 9, Allen 6
The Golden Tigers had to come from behind in the third win of the day, this time against Allen. The Yellow Jackets scored three runs to open the game, the first on a passed ball, followed by one on a wild pitch and the final on a groundout to take a 3-0 lead.

Tuskegee scored its first run in the bottom of the frame, as
Kaeley Roldan brought home Rector with a sacrifice bunt. Following another score from Allen,
Jada Chadwick lined out to center field to bring home Rector for her second run of the game, closing the gap to 4-2.

Allen went up three runs again at 5-2 with another score in the fifth, while TU flipped the score in the bottom of the inning with four runs, taking a 6-5 lead.
Katie Harris doubled to right to drive home two runs, while Morales doubled to left to score Harris to tie the game. Later, Morales scored on a passed ball to give TU its first lead.

The Golden Tigers added three more runs for insurance in the sixth, on RBIs from Rector and Harris, helping them take the 9-6 game and finish the weekend with a 6-1 stretch.

Rector went 2-for-3 in the game and scored four runs with one RBI, while Harris went 2-for-2 with three RBI and Morales went 2-for-4 with one RBI and one run in the win.

Tuskegee will return to play next weekend as the team plays host to LeMoyne-Owen for a three-game conference series. The series is scheduled to start on Saturday, March 23 with a. doubleheader at 12 p.m., while the weekend will conclude on Sunday, with first pitch set for 1 p.m.
