Golden Tigers Pick up Doubleheader Sweep at Talladega

TALLADEGA, Ala. __ Tuskegee softball took down Talladega in a midweek non-conference doubleheader on Tuesday, with the Golden Tigers taking game one 11-0 in six innings, followed by a 9-2 win in game two.

Nylah Strange-Lindley went a perfect 3-for-3 from the plate in game one against the Tornadoes, helping the Golden Tigers take the 11-0 contest. Strange-Lindley tripled in the third, singled in the fourth, and singled in the sixth inning in the win.
 
Scoring came early and often for TU as the team got on the board in the second inning with an RBI triple from Jessica Morales, driving home the first run.
 
The Golden Tigers added to their lead in the top of the third, after Payton Dunham laid down a sacrifice bunt to score a run, an RBI triple from Jada Chadwick, and an RBI double from Alexis Thompson, giving TU a 4-0 lead. Tuskegee added another three runs in the fourth and four in the top of the sixth for the run-rule win.
 
Kamya Hampton struck out a season-high 11 batters in six innings of work, while allowing just one hit and walking one, finishing her best outing of the year.
 
Meanwhile, Chadwick finished 3-for-4 at the plate, scoring two runs and driving in a pair of runs, followed by Kaeley Roldan who went 1-for-3 with two runs batted in, along with Morales who went 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI in the victory.

Morales led Tuskegee at the plate in the second game, collecting four hits in four at-bats, helping TU take the 9-2 game to close out play. The senior infielder tripled in both the second and fifth innings, and singled in the first and seventh.
 
The Golden Tigers scored five runs in the second to start the offensive onslaught, with the first being off an error, while Naturelle Miles hit a double to score two, followed by the first RBI triple from Morales, driving home the final two runs of the frame.
 
Talladega scored two runs on two hits in the bottom of the fourth to cut into the lead, however Tuskegee got back on the board in the fifth with a run, before finishing the game with three runs in the top of the seventh, behind four hits and one error from the home team.
 
Caroline Clark earned the win in the circle for Tuskegee, surrendering eight hits and two runs, none earned, in seven innings. The junior struck out three batters and walked one. TU combined for 14 hits in the game, with Morales driving in two runs and stealing three bases, while Katie Harris and Strange-Lindley recorded multiple hits.

Tuskegee will host LeMoyne-Owen this weekend in a weekend conference series, starting with a Saturday doubleheader 12 p.m. The series will conclude on Sunday at 1 p.m. at the TU Softball Field.
