Men’s Tennis Splits Pair of Matches on Day One of SIAC Round-Up

MOBILE, Ala. – Tuskegee men's tennis started a weekend of play in the SIAC Round-Up on Thursday, falling to host team Spring Hill, before getting a shutout victory over Fort Valley State at the Gerald L. Wallace Tennis Center.
 
Tuskegee (2-3) struggled against the home Badgers of Spring Hill (2-2) in the first game by a score of 7-0, dropping all three double pairings, and being swept in the singles. Zamani Moyo held his own at the No. 1 singles, going three sets before falling, while Teryon Newbold-Hudson, Ty'lon Miller, and Keith Moultrie all put up points in their individual pairings.
 
In game two, the Golden Tigers made quick work of Fort Valley State (0-1), winning the doubles point and then picking up singles wins on all six courts.
 
Tuskegee went up on doubles courts one and two and ended up getting the victories from the pairing of Moyo and Moultrie at No. 1 (6-0) and Elliyahu Pinkney and Torain Alleyne at No. 2 also by a score of 6-0.
 
Tuskegee jumped on top in singles as well, winning in two sets on all six courts. Alleyne, Miller, and Moyo all took down their opponents 6-0, 6-0, at courts four, six, and one respectively, while Ladge finished at No. 3 (6-0, 6-1), Moultrie finished at No. 2 (6-4, 6-2), followed by Newbold-Hudson taking the win at No. 5 (6-1, 6-0).

Tuskegee will remain in Mobile on Friday, as they start day two with battles against Morehouse and LeMoyne-Owen. First serve is set for 9 a.m. CT at the Gerald L. Wallace Tennis Center.
