Men’s Tennis Wins Three of Final Four at SIAC Round-Up

MOBILE, Ala. – Tuskegee men's tennis took down three more conference opponents over the weekend at the first SIAC Round-Up of the year, finishing 4-2 overall at the Gerald L. Wallace Tennis Center.
 
Tuskegee 5, Morehouse 0
Tuskegee won five of six singles points against Morehouse to start the day, with Ty'lon Miller not allowing a score, defeating his opponent 6-0, 6-0 at court four.
 
Tyler Ladge and Miles Wilson both took 6-1, 6-1 wins at courts five and three respectively, while Jack Shaw took a 6-1, 6-0 win followed by a win from Keith Moultrie to secure the win.

Tuskegee 5, LeMoyne-Owen 0
The Golden Tigers continued their strong play against the Magicians on Friday afternoon, sweeping 5-0 in the second match of the day.
 
The doubles point was won by TU as Eliyah Pinkney/Torain Alleyne and Miller/Shaw won 6-0 at No. 1, and No. 3, while Wilson/Ladge took a 6-2 win at No. 2.
 
In singles play, Tuskegee continued to dominate, as three of the four wins were straight set sweeps, as Miller, Shaw, and Wilson all took 6-0, 6-0 wins, while Ladge won at court five 6-2, 6-2.
 
Tuskegee 4, Lane 1
TU kept the streak alive against Lane, taking a 4-1 game to win the fourth straight game conference game.

Tuskegee jumped on top in singles play, taking courts three, four, five and six. Shaw took No. 3 6-3, 6-2, followed by Ladge, Zamani Moyo, and Teryon Newbold-Hudson with 6-2, 6-2 wins at No. 4, No. 5, and No. 6 respectively.

Benedict 5, Tuskegee 2
The lone loss over the past two days came against Benedict, falling 5-2, ending a four-match win streak for the Golden Tigers.
 
Tuskegee struggled against Benedict in the final game of the weekend, falling by a score of 5-2. The Golden Tigers dropped all three double pairings, as Moyo/Moultrie fell 6-3, Alleyne/Pinkney fell 6-2, and Wilson/Miller fell 6-2.
 
Moyo held his own again at the No. 1 singles, winning in straight sets at 6-4, 6-3, followed by Newbold-Hudson also taking an individual win in straight sets at 6-1, 6-0 at No. 5.
 
Meanwhile, Pinkney fell 6-1,6-1 at No. 2, while all three remaining games went three sets each, as Alleyne, Miller, Moultrie dropped their pairings in the final set in the loss.
 
Up Next
Tuskegee will return to Mobile next weekend for another conference match, this time a true road contest against Spring Hill on Saturday, Feb. 17. First serve is set for 1 p.m. CT at the Gerald L. Wallace Tennis Center.
