DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — The Tuskegee men's tennis team concluded its Florida road trip with a pair of losses, falling 5-0 to Florida Southern on Friday before dropping a 5-0 decision to Embry-Riddle on Saturday in non-conference play.
Florida Southern 5, Tuskegee 0
Florida Southern opened the match by sweeping doubles play to take the opening point.
At No. 1 doubles, George Russell and Onur Turgut defeated Tyler Lodge and
Thompson Thomu 7-5. The Mocs secured the point with another tight match at No. 2 doubles, where Bosko Boskovic and Gabriel Jorner defeated
Miles Wilson and
Kevin Wright 7-6.
Florida Southern completed the sweep with a 7-6 victory at No. 3 doubles over Shane Topera and
Emmanuel Wettey.
In singles play, Florida Southern won three matches to secure the team victory.
George Russell defeated Wilson 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, while Marco Cinotti topped Topera 6-1, 6-1 at No. 3.
At No. 5 singles, Youssef Elshafei defeated
Ty'lon Miller 6-1, 6-1 to clinch the match.
Two singles matches remained unfinished after competitive early play from Wright and Wettey.
Embry-Riddle 5, Tuskegee 0
Embry-Riddle also claimed the doubles point to open Saturday's contest.
Frederic Tu and Marc Mail defeated
Tyler Ladge and
Kevin Wright 6-4 at No. 1 doubles, while the No. 3 doubles match was decided by default.
In singles play, Embry-Riddle picked up four wins to complete the 5-0 victory.
Marc Mail defeated Lodge 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1 singles, and Manuel Lanteri topped Topera 6-4, 6-1 at No. 2.
At No. 4 singles, Joao Morgado defeated Wettey 6-1, 6-1. Two other singles matches were left unfinished.
