Tuskegee Women’s Tennis Drops Pair of Matches to Florida Southern, Embry-Riddle to Conclude Florida Trip

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — The Tuskegee women's tennis team wrapped up its Florida road swing over the weekend, dropping matches to Florida Southern (4-0) on Friday and Embry-Riddle (4-0) on Saturday in non-conference action.
 
Florida Southern 4, Tuskegee 0
Florida Southern secured the doubles point and added three singles victories to earn the 4-0 win.
 
The Mocs took control in doubles play with wins on courts two and three. Emily Jennewein and Ronja Scheuermann defeated Gabrielle Blanks and Adjowa-Sika Serena Pascaline 6-3 at No. 2 doubles, while Annika Berndorf and Jolie Miller topped Dayna Jackson and Asia McRae 6-1 at the No. 3 position.
 
The No. 1 doubles match between Leiloni Payton and Ayawavi Vania Dotse and Florida Southern's Kennedi Brown and Josie Holderbach went unfinished with the Mocs leading 5-2.
 
In singles play, Florida Southern closed the match with three straight-set victories. Josie Holderbach defeated Dotse 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, while Annika Berndorf earned a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Payton at No. 2.
 
At No. 5 singles, Kennedi Brown secured the clinching point with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Taylor Ford.
 
Two matches remained unfinished, including strong early showings by Adiowa-Sika and Asia McRae.
 
Embry-Riddle 4, Tuskegee 0
On Saturday, Tuskegee opened the match with a strong showing in doubles, but Embry-Riddle ultimately secured the point by winning two of the three courts.
 
Payton and Dotse highlighted the doubles action for the Golden Tigers, earning a 7-5 victory over Amelie Gindl and Carlota Balseiro at No. 1 doubles.
 
Embry-Riddle responded with wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles to take the opening point.
 
In singles play, Embry-Riddle secured the match with three victories.
 
Amelie Gindl defeated Adiowa-Sika 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, while Franzi Kremerskothen posted a 6-1, 6-3 win over Chloe Griffin-Harrington at No. 5.
 
At No. 6 singles, Charly Egger defeated Gabrielle Geary 6-2, 6-0 to clinch the match for the Eagles.
 
Two other singles contests featuring Blanks and Dayna Jackson remained unfinished.
