TUSKEGEE __ The Tuskegee softball team is back in action on Wednesday when it travels to Montgomery to take on Alabama State for a non-conference doubleheader starting at 1 p.m. at the Barbara Williams Softball Complex.

Tuskegee is 6-6 this season and coming off a strong 4-2 weekend at the CIAA-SIAC Softball Challenge with wins over Claflin (14-3), Lincoln (5-4), Winston-Salem State (13-9), and Bowie State (4-3). TU lost both games on Saturday to Virginia State (8-4) and Fayetteville State (4-0).

Through 12 games this season, the Bulldogs have totaled 83 hits, including 13 doubles, and four home runs, both second in the conference. Tuskegee has a team batting average of .265 and a .346 on-base percentage, with eight batters having at least seven hits so far.
Kaeley Roldan leads the team with a .391 average at the plate, to go along with nine hits, five RBI, and three runs scored. She is followed by
Jada Chadwick with a .344 average, 11 hits, including a league-leading five doubles, 12 runs batted in, seven runs scored, and one home run.
Meanwhile,
T'yauna Rector has earned a team-high 12 hits in 36 at bats, and scored ten runs, followed closely by
Jessica Morales with 11 hits and a team-high 11 runs scored on the year.

Kamya Hampton leads the TU pitching unit so far in innings pitched (41.1), strikeouts (33), and complete games (2) this season while owning a 3.73 ERA. She also holds a 5-1 record.
The Hornets are 3-6 this season and coming off a 2-3 weekend in which they competed in the HBCU Collegiate Softball Invitational in Atlanta. ASU defeated South Carolina State and Fort Valley State and fell to North Carolina Central, Howard, and North Carolina A&T.
Jaeda Gardner and Kindall DeRamus lead Alabama State in batting average at .529 and .520, respectively. Gardner, a product of Pike Road, has nine hits this season, five hits, one RBI, and ten total bases in 17 at-bats. DeRamus, a three-time SWAC Preseason Player of the Year has tallied 13 hits, two doubles, two triples, and seven RBI through 25 at-bats.
In the circle, Alabama State holds a 3.92-team ERA while opponents are hitting at a .304 clip against them. Charity Bibbs has the most wins so far on the year at 2-3 in seven appearances.
