TUSKEGEE, Ala. __ Looking for the first 3-0 start to a season since 2016, Tuskegee (2-0, 1-0 SIAC) is set to host Central State (1-1, 0-0 SIAC) for the 2023 home opener on Saturday, Sept. 16, inside of the Cleve L. Abbott Memorial Alumni Stadium.

GAME NOTES
- Tuskegee and Central State will play one another for the 10th time this weekend, with the Golden Tigers holding a 9-1-0 record against the Marauders.
- In the nine total meetings between the programs, Tuskegee has outscored Central State 290-140 (32.2-15.6).
- The series between universities started in 2013, when Central State became an associate member of the SIAC for football only in 2013 when it became a charter member of the Great Midwest Athletic Conference in 2012, which did not sponsor football. This weekend's meeting will be the 10th since 2013.
- Tuskegee won the first five games in the series by a combined score of 155-56, as well as winning eight of nine matchups, with the lone loss being a 40-36 game on the road in 2018.
- The Golden Tigers have held Central State scoreless in two games in the series, the first a 45-0 win in 2017, followed by a 2900 win in 2021.
- There have only been two games in the series decided by single digits, with TU holding a 1-1 record in those games.
- Tuskegee has won seven of its eight games in the series by double digits, while Central State does not have a double-digit win in the series.
- During its current three-game winning streak against the Marauders, Tuskegee has scored at least 21 points in every game and over 40 points once.
- The Golden Tigers have scored at least 20 points in the series eight times, at least 30 points four times and 40-plus points three times.
- Tuskegee has held Central State to under 20 points in six of its nine meetings overall, while TU has been held under 20 points just once (2015).
- The Golden Tigers have had over 500 yards of total offense one time in series history, and over 400 yards of total offense four times, including in each of the last four meetings. In fact, TU has scored at least 38 points in each of the last four games.
- Tuskegee has held Central State to less than 300 yards of offense in six of the nine meetings and to 20 or fewer points in two of the last three contests.
LAST MEETING
- With the 49-34 win over the Marauders in 2022, Tuskegee extended their win streak at the time to five games and notched another Saturday in Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference win.
- A pair of Central State quarterbacks combined for 501 passing yards on the day, with Brandon Kyles finishing 17-for-28 for 352 yards, while Kendall Boney was. 14-for-22 for 149 yards. Meanwhile, a trio of receivers went over 100 yards on the day.
- The Golden Tigers rushed for a season-high 439 yards against the Marauders, with Taylor finishing with 232, his second game north of 200 yards on the ground. Meanwhile, Edwards accounted followed by 142 yards on the day, followed by 60 from Williams. The trio combined for all seven touchdowns for Tuskegee.
- Williams also went 14-for-26 for 106 yards through the air against Central State, with five different receivers catching passes on the day, led by Rodricus Magee at five catches for 38 yards and Corey Petty with four receptions for 27 yards. Antonio Meeks and Jonathan Montrevil, both caught two passes, while Taylor caught one for 21 yards in the win.
- Jeremy Dees and Fletcher Jordan led the defensive unit, with Dees earning eight solo tackles, while Jordan had four assisted and four solos along with a forced fumble. Woodly Appolon accounted for seven stops, while Zelly Aldridge made six solo tackles, forced a fumble, and recorded an interception.
