TUSKEGEE, Ala. I The Golden Tigers and head coach Allen Bowen continue their season with a meet at SIAC opponent Fort Valley State beginning on Friday.
Tuskegee is coming into the meet after competing in the Emory Spring Break Classic last weekend, including a 16th-place finish for the men's side.
Freshman Quinton Godfrey (Fairhope, Ala.) has helped lead the way for the men, posting personal records in the previous two meets with a 10.91 time in the 100-meter in the Savannah State Relays on March 5, followed by a 22.15 time in the 200-meter event and a 5.54 meter long jump last weekend at Emory.
Several other Golden Tigers posted personal bests over the last two meets, including Dennis Bailey (Savannah, Ga.) with times of 11.28 and 22.86 seconds in the 100 and 200-meter events respectively, along with Jury Sims (Douglasville, Ga.) with a time of 11.41 seconds in the 100-meter along with a 13:10.69 time in the 3000-meter Steeplechase.
In distance, Jireh Jones (Perryville, Md.) and
Diandre White (Baltimore, Md.) both showed strong performances in the Emory Spring Break Classic, with White finishing with a time of 2:12.56 and Jones finishing at 2:20.84.
Meanwhile, the 4x100 relay team of Bailey, Godfrey, Jones, and Kobi Mitchell (McDonough, Ga.) finished fifth last weekend with a time of 42.82 seconds, behind only Shorter, Ferrum, Vorhees and Clayton State.
On the women's side, M'Kenzii Frazier (Laurel, Miss.) and Makayla Richardson (Linden, Ala.) have posted to two fastest times in the 100-meter at 13.27 and 13.70 seconds respectively, while Frazier also has the second faster 200-meter time after a 29.10 second run last weekend at Emory.
Teammate Cydni Samuel (New Orleans, La.) also improved her time last weekend with personal bests in the 200-meter with a time of 28.27, followed by a time of 1:05.34 in the 400-meter event. Meanwhile, Beyonce Griffin (Atlanta, Ga.) posted times of 6:31.84 and 14:11.83 in the 1500 and 3000-meter events, while Angelique Johnson (Reserve, La.) and Saniya Keeton (Harker Heights, Texas) also had successful meets last weekend with Johnson posting a PR of 5:43.10 in the 1500-meter, while Keeton has put up times of 1:06.04 in the 400-meter run and 1:16.13 in the 400-meter hurdles.
