ATLANTA, Ga. – Tuskegee junior sprinter and hurdler Shawn Jarrett II has been named the SIAC Men's Track Athlete of the Week following a standout performance at the Georgia Tech Invitational held April 18–19 in Atlanta.
Jarrett broke the Tuskegee school record in the 400-meter hurdles, clocking an NCAA Division II provisional qualifying time of 51.77 seconds, which currently ranks him first in the SIAC and 13th nationally.
The historic mark solidified Jarrett as one of the top 400m hurdlers in the country and put him in strong contention for NCAA postseason qualification.
In addition to his individual success, Jarrett played a critical role in both of Tuskegee's relay squads.
He helped the 4x100-meter relay team post a time of 42.27 seconds and contributed to the 4x400-meter relay team that clocked 3:21.19, helping the Golden Tigers secure one of their strongest relay weekends of the season.
Jarrett's speed, leadership, and versatility continue to anchor Tuskegee's men's program as the team prepares for the upcoming SIAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
