TUSKEGEE, Ala. | After last playing two weeks ago, the Tuskegee University volleyball team hits the court again on Monday hosting Miles in a key Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) matchup.
The match takes place inside Chappie James Arena at 6 pm, and the Tigerettes look to keep pace with Stillman in the conference standings.
Tuskegee (15-11, 11-8 SIAC) have two conference matches remaining, which include Monday's matchup with Miles (6-19 6-14 SIAC), and with two wins can overtake Stillman for second in the West (third overall due to Spring Hill who is not eligible for postseason competition).
The Tigerettes and Miles have met one time already this season, with Tuskegee coming out on top in straight sets on the road one month ago. In that match,
Jamiah Breda-Nixon led Tuskegee with 10 kills and
Pamela Allen added nine.
Allen, a four-time SIAC Offensive Player of the Week this season, leads the team with 264 kills (514 attempts). He is hitting .364 on the season, which is good for second in the conference and 22nd in the NCAA. She also has 27 service aces, 51 digs and 42 blocks this season.
Three-time SIAC Newcomer of the Week, Breda-Nixon is second on the team in kills with 190. She is averaging 2.38 kills per set on 504 total attempts, hitting .242 on the season. She also has added 32 service aces, 67 digs and 18 blocks to help the Tigerettes.
Meanwhile,
Morgan Scrivens – a two-time Setter of the Week award winner – leads the Tigerettes with 643 assists, including a career-high 55 against Huntingdon two weeks ago.
Jacqueline Wilson has contributed 134 kills – third on the team – while
Zahria Radford – a SIAC Defensive Player of the Week award winner this year – leads the team with 277 digs.
Janae Graham continues to lead the nation in aces (65) and aces per set (0.81). She is currently seven aces ahead of Alli Cudworth of Ashland, and leads Shelly Stumpff of Wingate in service aces per set (0.64).
The match on Monday is one of the two regular season matches remaining on the schedule this season for Tuskegee, with the Tigerettes hosting Albany State on Thursday in preparation for the SIAC Volleyball Tournament next week in Birmingham.
Admission to all home volleyball matches is free.
