Tuskegee Softball’s Historic Season Wraps in NCAA Division II South I Regionals

Box Score HUNTSVILLE – The Lady Golden Tigers of Tuskegee University softball team played their first game from the home team dugout and fell to the hosting University of Alabama in Huntsville 12-3
 
In the top of the first UAH charged into the game with a point to prove as they scored two runs before retiring. The top of the second was especially difficult for Tuskegee as they gave up five runs to the Chargers.
 
In the bottom of the second, Cassandra Denson singled on a bunt and earned a RBI for bringing Rosalyn Thomas home. In the bottom of the fifth, Chante Warner doubled to center field (and advanced to third on the throw), bringing in Cari Driver. The final run for the season came from Warner as Karisa Foye sacrificed to the short stop.
 
Latifah Kelly took the loss on the mound for the Lady Golden Tigers, allowing 10 hits, 12 runs, seven errors, three walks, two homers and one strikeout in five innings.
 
Kimberly Jack took the win for the Chargers; she pitched four innings, allowed one run, five hits and one error.  
 
This season has proven to be a very successful one for Tuskegee with the Lady Golden Tigers clenched the Western Division in the SIAC, won the SIAC Softball Tournament, traveled to compete in the NCAA Division II South I Regionals, and upset the No. 1 seeded University of Alabama in Huntsville. Tuskegee wasn't the first to win a game in regionals but they were the first eight seed to defeat a one seed.
