Lady Golden Tigers Explode in Final Home Doubleheader

Box Score TUSKEGEE, Ala. (April 16, 2014) – The Tuskegee University Lady Golden Tigers' softball team (25-12) defeated the Lady Hornets of Concordia College-Selma (8-0, 19-1) in their final home games of the season.

Latifah Kelly (13-4) led TU to an 8-0 shutout in game one.  Six innings on mound resulted in 12 strikeouts, three walks, one balk, and no hits.
 
Offensively for the Lady Golden Tigers, Haley Plato led the charge with two earned runs. Plato, Cari Driver, Karisa Foye and Kristen O'Neal all tallied two hits. Driver, Young (Bria) and Harrison (Denavia) each brought two runners in to pace the offensive attack for TU.

Kelly registered the win and Jayia Smith took the loss.

Game 2:  Karisa Foye (10-5), a returning veteran, faced the Lady Hornets (19-1) in game two.  The fire thrower only allowed one run on two hits to record the win. She recorded eight strikeouts while facing 16 batters. Foye pulled double duties, as she also led the Lady Golden Tigers' offensive attack with two homeruns, five RBIs, four runs and three hits.
 
A double angled to centerfield, scored a run, in the top of the third snapping TU's five game shutout streak.

LaTorya Griffin suffered the loss for the Lady Hornets.
