Tuskegee men's cross country student-athlete
Edwin Kiprono was named Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Runner of the Week as announced today by the league office.
Kiprono, a junior from Eldoret, Kenya, put on a show in his first-ever competition for the Golden Tigers, winning the Julius Johnson Invitational on Saturday. His time of 18:35.9 was nearly a minute ahead of the closest competitor in a field that included multiple Division I participants. Kiprono would average less than five minutes per mile - the only person to accomplish the fete in the race - as Tuskegee would finish second in the seven-team field.
Kiprono and the Golden Tigers are back in action on Sept. 18 when they compete in the Falcon Classic at the University of Montivallo.
