Tuskegee Takes Road Series Over Spring Hill, Improves to 21-7 Overall

MOBILE, Ala. — Tuskegee softball secured a key SIAC road series victory over Spring Hill, winning two of three games over the weekend to improve to 21-7 overall and 12-1 in conference play.
 
The Golden Tigers used timely hitting and strong pitching performances across the series to take control, highlighted by a dominant Game 2 win and a pitching duel victory in Game 1.
 
Spring Hill 3, Tuskegee 2 (8 inn.)
Tuskegee opened the series in a tightly contested extra-inning battle but came up short in a 3-2 loss.
 
The Golden Tigers struck first in the opening inning as Kenya Tatum drove in a run on a sacrifice fly, followed by Taneah Gibbons reaching on an error that brought home another run to give Tuskegee an early 2-0 lead.
 
Spring Hill answered in the second inning with a solo home run from Meadow Villar to cut into the deficit.
 
After several scoreless innings, Spring Hill tied the game in the seventh to force extras. In the eighth inning, the Badgers secured the win on an RBI double to right field.
 
Monica Rose pitched 7.1 innings for Tuskegee, allowing three runs while striking out four. Tamiya Martin led the offense with two hits, while Gibbons and Tatum each contributed RBIs.

Tuskegee bounced back in Game 2 with a pitching duel victory, shutting out Spring Hill 1-0.
 
The Golden Tigers scored the game's only run in the first inning when Gibbons delivered an RBI double to center field, bringing home Kenya Tatum.
 
Jordan Garcia was dominant in the circle, tossing a complete game shutout while allowing just two hits and striking out four to secure the win.
 
Tuskegee's defense held firm throughout, preserving the narrow lead and evening the series.
 
Tuskegee 9, Spring Hill 1
Tuskegee clinched the series with a decisive 9-1 victory, powered by an explosive fifth inning.
 
Trailing early, the Golden Tigers erupted for eight runs in the fifth inning to take control. Peyton Dunham tied the game with an RBI walk before Martin followed with an RBI single.
 
Alarryn Beckley added a two-RBI single, and Tatum delivered a two-RBI double to extend the lead. Taneah Gibbons and Ava Mearedith also drove in runs during the inning as Tuskegee capitalized on timely hitting and aggressive baserunning.
 
Tuskegee added another run in the seventh inning to cap the scoring.
 
Martin finished with two hits and an RBI, while Beckley and Tatum each recorded two RBIs. Gibbons also added multiple hits and RBIs in the win.
 
Rose earned the win in the circle, throwing a complete game and allowing just one run on five hits.
 
Up Next
Tuskegee returns home this weekend to host SIAC opponent LeMoyne-Owen in a three-game series at the TU Softball Field. The series begins with a doubleheader on Saturday, followed by the final game on Sunday.
