Tuskegee Softball Finishes SIAC Crossover 7-0 with Wins Over Clark Atlanta and Edward Waters

GARDENDALE, Ala. — Tuskegee softball closed out the SIAC Crossover with another dominant day at Bill Noble Park, picking up two more victories on Wednesday to remain undefeated in the event.

The Golden Tigers opened the day with a 10-1 run-rule victory over Clark Atlanta in five innings before defeating Edward Waters 7-2 to cap a perfect showing in conference crossover play.
 
With the two wins, Tuskegee continued its strong start to SIAC play while showcasing both offensive firepower and solid pitching throughout the day.

Tuskegee wasted little time getting on the scoreboard against Clark Atlanta, plating runs early and steadily building a lead throughout the contest.
 
In the bottom of the first inning, Kenya Tatum delivered an RBI single to center field to bring home Tamiya Martin for the game's first run. Moments later, Taneah Gibbons doubled to right field to score Tatum and extend the lead to 2-0 before later crossing the plate on a wild pitch to give Tuskegee a 3-0 advantage.
 
The Golden Tigers added two more runs in the first inning when Addy Peaden launched a two-run home run to left field, scoring Ava Mearedith and pushing the lead to 5-0.
 
Tuskegee continued to apply pressure offensively in the fifth inning. Kaitlyn Fletcher delivered an RBI double to left center to bring home Gibbons before Peaden struck again, blasting a three-run home run to right field that scored Payton Dunham and Fletcher to extend the lead to 10-0.
 
Clark Atlanta managed its lone run in the fifth inning on an RBI walk by Jadin Broadnax, but the Golden Tigers closed out the contest shortly after to secure the run-rule victory.
 
Peaden led the Tuskegee offense with a 1-for-1 performance, two home runs, and five RBI, while Gibbons added two hits and an RBI. Tatum also contributed with two RBI, and Fletcher recorded a double and RBI.
 
In the circle, Monica Rose earned the win for Tuskegee, tossing five innings while allowing just two hits and one run with five strikeouts.
 
Clark Atlanta was led offensively by Gabriella Aleman, who recorded one of the Panthers' two hits.

Tuskegee once again struck early in the second game of the day, jumping out to a quick lead against Edward Waters.
 
The Golden Tigers opened the scoring in the first inning when Gibbons doubled down the left field line, bringing home Tatum and Alarynn Beckley for a 2-0 lead. Later in the inning, Mearedith added a two-run double to left field to extend the advantage to 4-0.
 
Tuskegee added another run in the second inning before Edward Waters responded in the fifth. Jahliyah Robinson hit a two-run inside-the-park home run to center field to trim the lead to 5-2.
 
The Golden Tigers quickly answered in the sixth inning. Tatum doubled down the left field line to bring home Beckley, and Fletcher added a sacrifice fly later in the inning to score Tatum and push the lead to 7-2.
 
Tuskegee finished the game with seven hits, led by Gibbons, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, while Mearedith added two RBI of her own. Tatum also recorded an RBI double, and Fletcher drove in a run on a sacrifice fly.
 
Jordan Garcia earned the win in the circle for Tuskegee, throwing seven innings while allowing two runs on six hits with one strikeout.
 
Robinson led Edward Waters with two hits and two RBI, while the Tigers recorded six hits as a team.
 
Up Next
Tuskegee will return to action next weekend when the Golden Tigers travel to face Spring Hill in a key SIAC conference series. The matchup begins with a doubleheader on Saturday, March 21, at Murray Field, with the series concluding on Sunday.
