Golden Tiger Tennis Teams Drop Road Matches at Rollins

WINTER PARK, Fla. — The Tuskegee men's and women's tennis teams dropped non-conference road matches to Rollins on Wednesday afternoon at the Rollins Tennis & Golf Center. The Golden Tiger women fell 4-2, while the men were defeated 4-0.
 
Both programs will remain in Florida for the remainder of the week, continuing non-conference play with matches against Florida Southern on March 13 and Embry-Riddle on March 14.
 
Women's Match: Rollins 4, Tuskegee 2
The Tuskegee women battled throughout the afternoon but came up short against a strong Rollins squad.
 
Rollins secured the early advantage by sweeping the doubles point. At the No. 2 position, Gabrielle Blanks and Adjowa-Sika Serena Pascaline fell 6-2 to Sydney Eckstein and Milla Falster, while Leiloni Payton and Vania Dotse dropped the No. 1 doubles match 6-1 against Nisan Can and Lorin Tilipman. Rollins clinched the point with a 6-3 win at No. 3 doubles.
 
Tuskegee responded with strong efforts in singles play, highlighted by a pair of victories.
 
At No. 2 singles, Payton delivered a resilient performance, rallying for a 6-2, 3-6, 6-2 victory over Falster to put the Golden Tigers on the board. Tuskegee added another point at No. 6 singles, where Chloe Griffin-Harrington earned a convincing 6-1, 6-2 win against Annie Sallick.
 
Taylor Ford also contributed a solid performance at No. 5 singles, defeating Eckstein 6-2, 7-5 in straight sets.
 
Despite the momentum, Rollins secured the team victory with wins at the top of the lineup. Nisan Can defeated Dotse 6-3, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, while Amina Abdulloeva edged Asia McRae in a tightly contested match 7-6, 6-1 at No. 4 singles.
 
The No. 3 singles match between Adjowa-Sika and Tilipman remained unfinished as Rollins clinched the match.
 
Tuskegee continued to show resilience in singles play, collecting multiple competitive set wins against the Tars.
 
Men's Match: Rollins 4, Tuskegee 0
The Tuskegee men faced a tough Rollins team that entered the match with an 8-1 record.

Rollins captured the doubles point after victories at the No. 2 and No. 3 positions. Kevin Wright and Miles Wilson dropped a tight 6-1 decision at No. 2 doubles to Mo Anterist and Fabian Gusic, while Shane Tapera and Emmanuel Wettey fell 6-4 at No. 3 doubles.
 
The No. 1 doubles match featuring Tyler Ladge and Thompson Thomu remained unfinished as Rollins secured the point.
 
In singles play, Rollins clinched the match with victories at three positions. At No. 1 singles, Lawson Prather defeated Ladge 6-0, 6-6 before retiring the match point. Fabian Gusic earned a 6-2, 6-6 win over Thomu at No. 2 singles, and Mo Anterist defeated Wright 6-0, 6-2 at No. 4 singles to seal the team result.
 
Several Tuskegee players showed competitive form in unfinished matches. Tapera was locked in a battle at No. 3 singles, while Ty'lon Miller and Wettey each pushed their opponents into close sets before play concluded.
 
Up Next
Tuskegee will continue its Florida road swing with two more non-conference matches later this week. The Golden Tigers will face Florida Southern on March 13 before closing the trip against Embry-Riddle on March 14.
