Women’s Tennis Finishes Tough Road Weekend at GCSU, No. 5 West Alabama

TUSKEGEE, Ala. — The Tuskegee women's tennis team completed a demanding two-match road weekend, opening play Friday, Feb. 6, at Georgia College & State University women's tennis before facing nationally ranked West Alabama women's tennis on Saturday, Feb. 7.

GCSU 6, Tuskegee 1
Tuskegee began the weekend in Milledgeville at the Centennial Center Tennis Courts, dropping a 6-1 decision to Georgia College.

The Golden Tigers earned their lone point in singles play, as Taylor Ford delivered a composed performance at No. 6 singles, earning a straight-sets victory to put Tuskegee on the board.

Several other singles matches featured competitive games, including three-set battles in the middle of the lineup that pushed Georgia College deep into sets.

No. 5 West Alabama 7, Tuskegee 0
The Tigers returned to the courts Saturday in Livingston, Alabama, squaring off against No. 5 West Alabama at the Vaughan Tennis Complex.

Tuskegee faced one of the nation's top Division II programs and fought through every position despite falling 7-0. Multiple singles matches were tightly contested early, with Ayawavi Vania Dotse and Leiloni Payton both posting competitive opening sets near the top of the lineup.

In doubles play across both matches, Tuskegee continued to build chemistry in new pairings, gaining valuable experience against high-level opponents. The weekend marked an important test for the Golden Tigers as they faced a combination of strong conference and nationally ranked competition away from home.

Tuskegee will look to take lessons from the road trip as the team prepares for upcoming matches and continues its push toward conference play later in the spring.

Tuskegee will return to action next week as they host Mobile at home on Thursday, Feb. 12, before going to nearby Auburn Montgomery on Friday, Feb. 13. First serves are set for 1 p.m. and 11 a.m. respectively.
