Tuskegee Fades Late to Fall on the Road to Clark Atlanta, 66-50

ATLANTA, Ga. — Tuskegee women's basketball battled throughout but ultimately fell 66-50 to conference rival Clark Atlanta on the road at L.S. Epps Gym on Saturday afternoon.

Clark Atlanta opened the game with an early surge, outscoring Tuskegee 18-10 in the first quarter behind efficient shooting and strong interior play. The Panthers continued to apply pressure in the second quarter, edging the Golden Tigers 15-13 to take a 33-23 advantage into halftime.

Tuskegee responded coming out of the break, tightening defensively and holding Clark Atlanta to 12 points in the third quarter. The Golden Tigers trimmed the deficit with improved ball movement and defensive rebounding, but struggled to find consistency from the perimeter, entering the fourth quarter trailing 45-30.

Clark Atlanta sealed the game in the final period, scoring 21 points in the fourth quarter while capitalizing at the free-throw line and converting key baskets in transition. Tuskegee continued to fight, but the Panthers' late efficiency proved decisive.

Arianna Durrell led Tuskegee with 13 points, going 8-for-10 from the free-throw line, while Tenea Robinson added a team-high 16 points and five rebounds on 5-for-11 shooting. Shemaiah Mackin recorded nine points, 10 rebounds, and three steals, anchoring the Golden Tigers on the glass. Erin Perry chipped in four rebounds and a block, while Aaliyah Duranham contributed five points and two assists off the bench.

Tuskegee finished the game shooting 34.1 percent from the field and 9.1 percent from three-point range, while converting 73.1 percent from the free-throw line. The Golden Tigers were outrebounded 34-34 but committed 30 turnovers, which Clark Atlanta converted into 19 points.

Clark Atlanta was paced by Atreonia Garner and Trinity Jones, who each scored 18 points. Janiah Ellis added 11 points, four steals, and four assists, helping spark the Panthers' transition attack. Clark Atlanta shot 41.4 percent from the field and held a 40-22 advantage in points in the paint, while also scoring 15 fast-break points.

Tuskegee will look to bounce back quickly as the Golden Tigers return to conference play on Thursday, Feb. 5, when they travel to Allen for a SIAC matchup. Tipoff is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. inside John Hurst Adams Gym, as Tuskegee aims to regain momentum heading into the final stretch of the conference season.
