MORROW, Ga. — The Tuskegee women's basketball team saw its postseason run come to an end Thursday morning as the Golden Tigers fell to No. 2 seed Clark Atlanta, 62-52, in the quarterfinal round of the 2026 SIAC Basketball Championship at the Clayton County Convention Center.
Tuskegee battled throughout the contest but struggled to overcome an early deficit as Clark Atlanta built a lead in the opening half and maintained control down the stretch.
Clark Atlanta set the tone early, opening the game on a strong run and taking a 17-6 lead after the first quarter. Tuskegee began to settle in offensively in the second quarter, trimming the margin slightly, but the Panthers carried a 27-18 advantage into halftime.
The Golden Tigers showed resilience in the third quarter, putting together their most productive stretch offensively. Tuskegee outscored Clark Atlanta 16-20 in the period, cutting the deficit to single digits and entering the final quarter trailing 47-34.
Tuskegee continued to push in the fourth quarter, scoring 18 points in the final frame, but Clark Atlanta answered with timely baskets and free throws to secure the victory.
Shemaiah Mackin led the Golden Tigers offensively with 12 points and nine rebounds, narrowly missing a double-double while shooting 5-of-10 from the field.
Breanna Glaze added 11 points, connecting on three shots from beyond the arc, while Ka'ela Mitchell chipped in nine points and three assists off the bench.
Erin Perry contributed seven points and five rebounds, while
Tenea Robinson added five points and three assists. Tuskegee finished the game shooting 34.5 percent from the field, including 4-of-15 from three-point range, and grabbed 33 rebounds as a team.
Clark Atlanta was paced by Atreonia Garner, who scored a game-high 19 points, including 9-of-10 from the free-throw line. Anisah Moncrief added 11 points, while Jordyn Smith contributed 10 points and knocked down two three-pointers.
The Panthers also received a strong performance from Shawn Tate, who pulled down 10 rebounds to lead Clark Atlanta on the glass.
Clark Atlanta shot 43.8 percent from the field and controlled the boards with a 38-33 rebounding advantage. The Panthers also capitalized at the free-throw line, converting 18-of-26 attempts, compared to Tuskegee's 8-of-11 mark.
Tuskegee received strong production from its bench, which outscored Clark Atlanta's reserves 29-7, while both teams finished with 11 points off turnovers in the contest.
Despite the loss, the Golden Tigers battled throughout the tournament matchup and remained competitive into the final quarter before Clark Atlanta closed the game from the free-throw line.
Tuskegee concludes its 2025-26 season after advancing to the quarterfinal round of the SIAC Championship.
