COLUMBUS, Ga. – Tuskegee softball saw its 2025 season come to an end on Tuesday afternoon, falling 3-2 to Spring Hill in an elimination game at the Cricket SIAC Softball Championship at South Commons Softball Complex.
Â
In a tightly contested battle, Spring Hill struck first with a solo home run by Rycca Hinton in the top of the first inning to take an early 1-0 lead.
Â
Despite a defensive miscue that put a runner in scoring position later in the frame, Tuskegee starter
Monica Rose worked out of trouble to limit the damage.
Â
The Golden Tigers generated early opportunities offensively, recording two hits in the first inning from
Jessica Morales and
Kaeley Roldan, but were unable to push across a run.
Â
The game remained a pitching duel through the middle innings as both teams' defenses tightened.
Â
Tuskegee finally broke through in the bottom of the fifth inning. After
Caroline Clark singled,
Alexis Thompson blasted a two-run home run to right field to give the Golden Tigers a 2-1 lead. The momentum, however, was short-lived.
Â
In the top of the sixth, Spring Hill's Bethany Ahrens responded with a two-run homer of her own, swinging the game back in the Badgers' favor at 3-2.
Â
Tuskegee continued to battle, putting runners on base in both the sixth and seventh innings, but could not deliver the clutch hit needed to extend the contest.
Â
Offensively, Tuskegee finished with seven hits. Roldan led the Golden Tigers at the plate, going 2-for-4, while Clark, Morales, Strange-Lindley, and Thompson each recorded hits.
Â
Thompson's home run accounted for both of Tuskegee's runs.
Â
Rose pitched a complete game, allowing just five hits and three runs while striking out four across seven innings. Despite her strong effort, she was tagged with the tough-luck loss.
