COLUMBUS, Ga. – The Tuskegee softball team begins its postseason journey on Monday morning as the top seed in the 2025 Cricket SIAC Softball Championship, taking on East Division No. 4 seed Benedict College at 10 a.m. ET at the South Commons Softball Complex.
Tuskegee enters the tournament riding a wave of momentum after a historic regular season.
The Golden Tigers finished 26-6 overall and 20-2 in conference play, securing the SIAC West Division title and the top overall seed.
The 26 total wins mark the fourth most in program history, while the six total losses are the fewest ever recorded in a full season for the program.
The Golden Tigers showcased an exceptional balance of offense, pitching, and defense throughout the year, outscoring opponents by a wide margin and establishing themselves as one of the league's most complete and dominant teams.
Offensively, Tuskegee boasts a team batting average of .319 and an on-base percentage of .415.
The Golden Tigers have tallied 260 hits, including 43 doubles, 5 triples, and 10 home runs. They have driven in 214 runs while also stealing 102 bases in 110 attempts, demonstrating both power and speed at the plate.
Alexis Thompson leads the team with a .383 batting average, 10 doubles, 3 home runs, and a team-high 32 RBIs, while
Caroline Clark adds a .415 average and a .529 on-base percentage.
Supporting the top of the lineup are strong contributors such as
Carole Ross (.339),
Jessica Morales (.302), and
Tamiya Martin (.288), all of whom bring depth and versatility to the offense.
In the circle, Tuskegee's pitching staff is anchored by freshman standout
Monica Rose and sophomore
Kamya Hampton.
Rose finished the regular season with a remarkable 15-2 record, a 1.90 ERA, and 122 strikeouts over 110.1 innings, earning both SIAC Freshman of the Year and Pitcher of the Year honors.
Hampton added a 10-4 record and a 2.42 ERA across 81 innings, providing a reliable second option for Head Coach
Dietrich Randle.
As a team, Tuskegee owns a collective 2.12 ERA while holding opponents to a .227 batting average.
In the field, the Golden Tigers boast a .936 fielding percentage, turning 20 double plays and limiting opponents' opportunities.
Benedict enters the tournament after an up-and-down regular season, finishing 18-20 overall and 12-12 in SIAC play. The Tigers of Benedict have been a resilient team capable of stringing together big offensive performances.
Benedict is batting .262 as a team and has scored 151 runs this season. T'yannah Lake leads Benedict offensively with a .384 batting average, 33 hits, and 24 RBIs, while Megan Blanks adds a .311 average and 20 RBIs. Elisha Ramirez (.301) also provides production, ranking among the team leaders in RBIs.
On the pitching side, Benedict carries a 5.41 team ERA. Savanna Marshall leads their pitching staff with a 9-10 record and a 3.68 ERA across 129.1 innings pitched.
Benedict opponents are hitting .311 against them, and the Tigers have allowed 309 hits and 233 runs over 234 innings this season.
Defensively, Benedict holds a .942 fielding percentage but has committed 56 errors and allowed 210 stolen bases out of 218 attempts, making baserunning a potential advantage for Tuskegee.
Monday's game marks an important opportunity for the Golden Tigers to continue their dominant run and move one step closer to a conference title.
