Preview: Tuskegee Baseball to Host Lane in Final Home Series of 2025

TUSKEGEE, Ala. __ The Tuskegee baseball team is set to close out its 2025 home slate this weekend with a three-game SIAC series against Lane at Washington Field.

The series opens with a Friday night game at 6 p.m. and concludes with a Saturday Senior Day doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.

The Golden Tigers will celebrate their senior student-athletes prior to the start of game one on Saturday.
 
ABOUT TUSKEGEE (13-28, 9-18 SIAC)
Tuskegee enters the weekend at 13-28 overall and 9-18 in SIAC play and is looking to build momentum heading into the final weeks of the regular season.
 
The Golden Tigers are 10-9 at home this season and are coming off a strong finish last weekend, taking a 7-6 win over Benedict in the series finale.
 
The Golden Tigers are batting .287 as a team, led by sophomore standout Ryan Morrow, who is hitting .362 with 46 hits, 35 RBIs, and 20 stolen bases.
 
Devon Lee follows with a .328 average, three home runs, and 33 RBIs, while John Saffold is hitting .317 and has also swiped 20 bags.
 
Tuskegee has been aggressive on the basepaths, totaling 171 stolen bases in 206 attempts, one of the highest totals in the SIAC, and has drawn 175 walks as a team.
 
On the mound, Mikelle Mason leads the team in innings pitched (54.1) and wins (5), despite a 9.11 ERA.
 
The pitching staff has struggled overall with consistency, posting a team ERA of 9.01 while allowing 347 hits and 355 runs in 305.2 innings.
 
Defensively, Tuskegee has a team fielding percentage of .947, with James Slaughter and Nicholas Pratt both maintaining perfect 1.000 fielding percentages at their positions.
 
ABOUT LANE (11-25, 11-15 SIAC)
Lane enters the weekend with an 11-25 overall record and an 11-15 mark in SIAC play.
 
The Dragons are 6-5 at home but just 3-19 in road games, and they've dropped five of their last six contests.
 
Offensively, Lane is hitting .277 as a team and is led by Saul Gonzalez (.356, 6 HR, 33 RBIs), Eli Vazquez-Garcia (.355), and Desean Rogers (.350).
 
The team has 14 home runs and 50 stolen bases and has shown the ability to string together runs despite inconsistency throughout the order?.
 
Lane's pitching staff has struggled with control and command, posting a team ERA of 9.34 while allowing 330 hits and issuing 203 walks in 246.2 innings.
 
Only two pitchers, Savian Loor (5.40 ERA) and Anderson Jorge (3.19 ERA), have sub-6.00 ERAs.
 
Defensively, the Dragons have committed 79 errors for a .929 fielding percentage, and their catchers have allowed opponents to steal 240 bases in 261 attempts, a staggering .920 success rate.
