HOOVER, Ala. – The Tuskegee softball team continued their strong start in SIAC play, picking up a pair of decisive wins on day one of the SIAC Crossover in Hoover, Alabama.
Tuskegee opened the day with a dominant 13-0 run-rule victory over Clark Atlanta before following up with a 16-4 rout of Edward Waters, improving their record to 8-3 overall and 5-0 in conference play.
Tuskegee 13, Clark Atlanta 0 (5 Innings)
The Golden Tigers wasted no time establishing control, exploding for eight runs in the first inning to put Clark Atlanta on their heels early.
The offense was fueled by
Alexis Thompson, who had a stellar performance at the plate, going 3-for-4 with an RBI.
Jessica Morales delivered a huge impact with four RBIs, including a two-run single in the first inning.
Tuskegee tacked on an additional run in the second inning and three more in the third to continue applying pressure.
Victoria Harrison and
Carole Ross contributed two RBIs each, while
Alarryn Beckley drove in three runs, adding to the offensive showcase.
On the defensive side, pitcher
Monica Rose was lights out, throwing a complete-game shutout. She allowed just three hits while striking out seven batters in five innings, improving her record to 4-1 on the season.
The Golden Tigers' defense played error-free softball, making crucial plays to keep Clark Atlanta off the board.
Tuskegee 16, Edward Waters 4 (5 Innings)
In their second game of the day, the Golden Tigers continued their offensive onslaught, racking up 15 hits and capitalizing on defensive miscues by Edward Waters.
Kaeley Roldan led the charge, finishing 2-for-4 with three RBIs, including a clutch bases-clearing double in the second inning that gave Tuskegee early momentum.
Tuskegee once again struck early, plating five runs in the first inning and adding four more in the second, taking a commanding 9-0 lead.
Edward Waters attempted to mount a comeback with four runs in the third inning, but the Golden Tigers responded emphatically, scoring seven runs over the final two innings to secure another run-rule victory.
Pitching remained a strong point for Tuskegee, as
Ava Merideth earned the win, tossing four innings and striking out five while limiting Edward Waters to just five hits.
Thompson and Beckley continued their hot streak at the plate, each recording multi-hit performances, with Beckley driving in three runs.
With the two victories, Tuskegee remains unbeaten in SIAC play (5-0) and showcased their depth, with contributions across the lineup.
The Golden Tigers combined for 29 runs on 29 hits over the two games, proving their offensive firepower is a force to be reckoned with.
