ROME, Ga. __ Tuskegee men's tennis wrapped up the SIAC Round-Up with a split on the final day, falling to Spring Hill 4-3 before bouncing back to defeat Benedict 4-2. The Golden Tigers now hold a 4-4 overall record and a 4-1 mark in conference play.
Against Spring Hill, Tuskegee fell behind early after losing all three doubles matches.
The No. 1 team of
Eliyahu Pinkney and
Tyler Ladge fell 6-2, while the No. 2 pair of
Miles Wilson and
Kevin Eutsey dropped their set by the same score.
The No. 3 duo of
Zamani Moyo and
Symon Brown battled to a tiebreaker before ultimately losing 7-6.
In singles play, Moyo delivered a straight-sets win at the No. 1 position, defeating Tom Gutermann 6-3, 6-3.
Eutsey followed up with a strong 6-2, 6-3 victory over Luke Tucker at No. 3 singles.
Torain Alleyne added a win at No. 5 singles, taking down Will Huckell 6-2, 6-3, but the Golden Tigers came up just short as Spring Hill secured the match with victories at No. 2, No. 4, and No. 6 singles.
Tuskegee responded in its final match of the Round-Up with a 4-2 victory over Benedict.
The Golden Tigers earned crucial doubles points, as Eutsey and Wilson won 7-6 at No. 2 doubles, while Moyo and Brown secured a 6-4 victory at No. 3 doubles.
In singles competition, Moyo continued his dominance with a 6-2, 6-4 win at the No. 1 spot, while Wilson rallied from a set down to claim a 4-6, 6-1, 6-2 victory at No. 5 singles.
Ty'lon Miller cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 6 singles, clinching the match for Tuskegee.
With a strong showing in the Round-Up, Tuskegee established itself as a contender in SIAC play. The Golden Tigers will look to build on their momentum as they continue their push for a conference championship.
