Preview: Golden Tiger Baseball Set for Midweek Showdown at University of Mobile

TUSKEGEE, Ala. __ Tuskegee baseball returns to action on Tuesday afternoon as the Golden Tigers travel to take on the University of Mobile in a non-conference matchup at Jacobs Field.

First pitch is set for 2:00 p.m. in Mobile, Alabama. The Golden Tigers enter the game with a 6-14 overall record and a 3-9 mark in SIAC play, looking to bounce back after a tough conference series against Spring Hill.

Meanwhile, Mobile comes into the matchup at 15-10 overall and 5-4 in the Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC).

ABOUT TUSKEGEE (6-14, 3-9 SIAC)
Tuskegee's offense has been led by Ryan Morrow, who is hitting .348 with 23 hits, four doubles, and a team-best 14 RBIs.

Morrow has also been effective on the basepaths, stealing 14 bases in 15 attempts.

Devon Lee has provided power in the lineup, leading the team with three home runs and 18 RBIs while batting .246. Freshman John Saffold has emerged as a key contributor, posting a .357 average with two home runs, five RBIs, and a team-high 12 stolen bases.

The Golden Tigers have collectively hit 16 home runs this season while posting a .256 team batting average.

On the mound, the Golden Tigers are looking for more consistency from their pitching staff, which currently holds a team ERA of 7.47.

Mikelle Mason has been the most utilized arm, making seven appearances (six starts) while logging a 3-3 record with an 8.69 ERA across 29.0 innings.

Isaiah Jones has been one of Tuskegee's more reliable relievers, posting a 4.88 ERA across 31.1 innings, with 22 strikeouts and an opponent batting average of .206. Amare Morgan has also been a key part of the rotation, with a 4.97 ERA in six starts.

Defensively, the Golden Tigers have turned 18 double plays while maintaining a .961 team fielding percentage.

However, limiting errors and controlling baserunners will be key against a Mobile team that has been aggressive on the bases.

ABOUT MOBILE (15-10, 5-4 SSAC)
Mobile enters the contest as one of the more balanced teams in the SSAC, with a .289 team batting average, 11 home runs, and 65 stolen bases.

The Rams have been led offensively by Peyton Parmer, who is hitting .366 with 26 hits and 19 RBIs. Klayton Hughes has also been a standout, batting .344 with 21 RBIs and six stolen bases.

The Rams are averaging 6.2 runs per game and have posted a .385 on-base percentage as a team.

On the mound, Mobile has relied on a deep pitching staff that has compiled a 4.12 team ERA.

Opponents are hitting just .246 against the Rams this season.

Top arms include Grant Hickey, who has a 1.89 ERA in 19.0 innings, and Andrew Wood, who has struck out 22 batters in 27.1 innings. Closer Peyton Bell has also been effective, posting a 2.92 ERA with three saves.

In last year's meeting between these teams, Mobile took a 7-2 victory, with Tuskegee struggling to generate offense against a strong Rams pitching staff.

The Golden Tigers will look for a better offensive output this time around and aim to use this game as a momentum builder before heading back into conference play.

With a tough test ahead, Tuskegee will look to sharpen both their offensive and defensive play as they take on Mobile in this midweek contest.
